Meh I'm just a fan anyway this isn't even that serious in my opinion. People around here are about to shoot there whole load as long as the defensive lineman don't cut and run Its all good since that was the basis of our defensive woes last season

6 players lost so far and counting, including a couple day 1 starters. Spurrier really put Carolina in a tough spot by putting so much uncertainty on the program.

This might be the break Stoops needs to move up in the SEC. For years, Kentucky usually was on about the same level as S. Carolina, Ole Miss and Mississippi St. and would win about as many as they lost to those teams, and could usually get 2-3 SEC wins a year unless they were just terrible. Spurrier's hire changed this and moved USC up. This is really a case of water finding its level, however.

I don't think we should throw away everything just to save a few recruits.

Maybe now Spurrier will only remain one year.

A little surprised at the Gamecock fans saying Spurrier needs to leave after he saved your terrible program, but I guess anyone can pull out multiple consecutive eleven win seasons at Columbia.

All that Spurrier has done does not make his open comments about how long he has left any less damaging to USC recruiting. Spurrier has handcuffed the recruiting this year and possibly for the remainder of his tenure.

I would be thankful for what he did and feeling the same he may need to go due to his error. It is worthy for discussion anyway.

Florida had SEC titles and won 6 or so with Spurrier so I think these situations aren't comparable.

If I was SC I would have Spurrier go ahead and announce that he is retiring at the end of the 2015 season. Then take the whole year to work on getting the best damn replacement you can that can step in the day after the Clemson game next year.

At least that would be something you could pitch to recruits that are interested in South Carolina and they would know what was happening.

He isn't going to retire this year so this is better than him lingering for 2 or 3 years. Also it gives him a well deserved celebration swan song season.

He takes an in-home with Fields, only can tell him that the assistants have 2 year contracts, and 5 days later, Fields de-commits.

Ever thought maybe he's trying to get some security for his assistants? Perhaps the reason he's talking about 2-3 years is because USCe isn't willing to secure his assistants for him.

247's JC Shurburtt was just interviewed on 107.5, here are the main bullets:

1) USC had a very lucrative package set up for Will Muschamp and Spurrier shot it down.

2) USC did not visit Paris Palmer during the contact period - We already knew this but still stings

3) He thinks few staff changes will be made. Probably Johnson and Lawing coming back. Called it "getting the band back together"

4) Marquavious Lewis is wavering. Could be de-commitment number 7.

5) Every assistant we have hired to replace guys like Beamer, Johnson, and Lawing has been a downgrade and that has killed us on the field and on the recruiting trail.

6) Bubba is basically the acting Assistant Head Coach.

7) We are screwed after 2015.

Why would we secure assistants after Spurrier is gone?

I listened to JC's entire interview and some of it should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm still listening to the show right now and all the calls have been whiny as hell.

JC is just venting frustration from having to deal with the message board poison. Although, I agree, things are not perfect right now - Spurrier could have handled some things better - but the minority of our fanbase that is melting right now needs to get a grip.

I don't know man, I think it's more than a minority. I've never had so many conversations with people enraged about Ward still being around, and that was before the decommits started flowing.

If we lose Lewis all he'll will break loose. That would be two day one starters in the trenches gone because Spurrier is a dumbass

LOL

This has to be a joke? You are South Carolina. The only reason you are even worth talking about as a program is Steve Spurrier. You should wake up every morning thanking him for taking the job in the first place.

This thread is hilarious. South Carolina fans telling Spurrier to retire. I wish he would, because South Carolina would return to its rightful place next to Vandy and Kentucky in the basement.

I don't think you've actually read what South Carolina fans have been saying in this thread.

Yeah, he turned down Auburn because he was hoping USCe would open up.

You guys realize that Steve Spurrier being the coach is the only reason these recruits ever committed in the first place, right?

This thread is a fricking abomination. I hope your program burns to the ground in spectacular fashion.
