See, but the committee knew that before they put them in at #3. I think they will consider them as co-champs.
They thought about that already. They considered what would be the situation if all of these teams won out, IMO.

OSU is in because:
1. If is the best way for the committee to avoid the head to head of TCU/Baylor
2. The Rose Bowl gets the traditional PAC vs B10 match up.
It is all about the money train now and which conferences carry the greatest political clout. Herbstreit has played his role as well by already setting up the Bama OSU game with his post game commentary. ESPN tacitly giving their marching orders.

quote:No doubt. And OSUs loss to Virginia Tech. There is no explanation for them leaving TCU out. They would have a lot of explaining to do.
TCU's loss to Baylor looks better than Baylor's loss to West Virgini

This playoff will go to 8 teams eventually, or they could consider 6 teams and the top 2 seeds will get a bye.
I'm for a 6 team playoff.
If they stay at 4 however, the committee should stop releasing weekly standings and just come out with one final ranking after the regular season ends.
That would negate a lot of the controversy which is about to explode tomorrow morning.

The fact is it does matter based on the 5 criteria of the selection committee. The 5th criteria is League Champions.
Yes I know Big 12 is calling them co-champs but the commissioner is being dishonest and cheating Baylor regardless if TCU passes the eye test over Baylor.
All season long you saw the commercials with the Big 12 coaches claiming they will have ONE TRUE CHAMPION. If true that would be Baylor.

I bet the committee wishes they had put FSU at #3 last week and TCU/Baylor/OSU at #4 last week.
They could move the #4 team up for winning big and drop FSU for barely winning.
I'm just glad Bama got their loss and shitty play out of the way early and I'm not sweating them getting left out so I can enjoy the shitshow and meltdowns tomorrow.

The NCAA also said the BCS champion would be the ONE TRUE CHAMPION. (See 2003)

I vote for this. But I never thought FSU should've been top 4 anyway. Tonight just made it clearer.

I bet you anything the committee was rooting hard for FSU to lose.
They were praying for any reason to drop them out completely.
Basically, everyone was rooting for upsets this weekend so we would see chaos. Looks like all the favorites winning has given us chaos too.

You watch, OSU will get in over Big 12 and it will mostly be due to OSU's fan draw and Big 10 influence. You can push all you want for it to be TCU, but that League Championship game just gave the committee the excuse they need to put OSU in.

Who care. Under the old BCS none of these teams would even be in the discussion.
It'd be Alabama vs. FSU in the title game.
Dollars to doughnuts, under the old BCS system, there would be a lot more hand-wringing amongst the voters over who gets the nod, Bama or Oregon. Now they can vote a little more freely because 1) their vote doesn't matter; and 2) even if it did matter, they wouldn't worry about leaving one of the two out of contention for the NC. The old system worked fairly well for what it was, it just needed to expand to a playoff.

You could be right. I think that's wrong, though.

Actually, I think this is the root of much of this. FSU is undefeated but the off the field stuff from multiple incidences and multiple players may have them feeling FSU may have to vacate shortly. After the Southern Cal mess it is probably bad for business to have to vacate a National Championship.

Hell, even the announcers of other games were hoping for it. During y'all's game today, Verne ADAMANTLY stated that Ga Tech would beat FSU, like he was willing it to be so ... Of course, I think he was drunk.

I'm going to wait and see. While I'm under no illusions about the extent of the committee's actual independence, in theory, and possibly in fact to some degree, the members have no particular motivation to care about fan draw and ratings and influence. Certainly they have less such motivation than ESPN, CBS, the NCAA, or the bowl system. There's still an outside chance that the committee will surprise us all by picking teams that are more worthy despite not being huge moneymakers or major TV draws.

Plus the X factor, considering the championship game is in Dallas/Ft. Worth, is TCU....and Baylor.
TCU was placed third last week for a reason, and that reason (as always) was money. If they still need the local angle, TCU (or Baylor) will get in. If not, Ohio St. will jump them.
My guess is the latter.
But I will laugh my arse off if they have the nerve to set up a "traditional" Rose Bowl matchup and the window-lickers accept this as just another coincidence.
Either way, this committee has been an absolute joke from Day 1 and tomorrow will be no exception.

One can be hopeful

Bowl money gives bowls a huge influence even though the claim is there is none. I could be wrong but I hope I am right because I want to see chaos tomorrow.
