Well, when one of you former players (Rob Pate) does a write up like the one in the OP it kinda reinforces the AU way of thinking and he sure mentions Bama a lot.......

You'd think Bama fans, of all people, would try and refrain from generalizations from the actions of a few.

The implied argument here is that other fanbases aren't like this, that they only care about football. Classic Aubs.

It's definitely partially true. You're telling me our rednecks or or your bandwagon fans give a shite about things other than sports? Most probably don't.

I didn't say it made me different to you. Let me break it down for you sequentially: 1) The poster scoffed at the idea we would be optimistic or engage in camaraderie after a loss. 2) I said to him, that we do it because it's just a game, and that maybe he is different if he doesn't feel like that. The end. Nothing to do with your affection for Alabama, but you're so quick to make fricking absurdly overbroad and pejorative statements about Auburn people that you don't take the time necessary to comprehend what the actual comment was about.

Yes, this is about us making overboard and pejorative statements about Auburn people.

But love of Alabama is easy love, cheap love, lazy love. The enormity of their sidewalk alumni proves this point. To love Auburn, you must first experience Auburn...and once you do it's in your blood forever.

I will do my part to help Auburn be successful by supporting the university, its colleges, its students, its athletics programs with my attendance, my involvement, my treasure. Auburn is not an idol in my life, if it ceased to exist tomorrow I could move on and function just fine, but Auburn represents an ideal of the very tenants that drive me and have molded me into who I am. You can shake a shaker, sing a song, and even claim fifteen national titles, but Alabama will never get who we are.

See. That's exactly what we're talking about. Alabama has a lot of National Championships to be proud of. Auburn doesn't. So you pretend ours are phony

Well, that'd be true if I were in fact pretending.

Stopped reading here. What a ridiculous statement to make, especially from a guy that loves Auburn because he played there on a scholarship(free; cheap)

Same could be said for Auburn rednecks/bandwagon fans. And LSU. And Tennessee. And Georgia.

How does that diminish the feelings alums have towards that school?

If the argument is "rednecks and sidewalk trash don't care about anything other than football" then yes 100% I agree. They generally treat the football program like an NFL team.

That isn't what the mindset or this article says.

I would like to have as many titles as Alabama at Auburn. But I draw absolutely nothing from how many titles Auburn has, it's just shite that is for fun on message boards. Some people live and die with this stuff, on all sides, but Bama has a lot of those folks, perhaps more than anyone else.

Or maybe even at the subject.

Please show me all the research you've done to disprove Bama's NC. And tell me how much time you put into it. Please

If we are equating level of love to how much our football teams have won then I'd argue 25-30 year old Alabama fans love of the University is about as strong as anybodys.

Growing up and being school going to games with DuBose, Fran, Shula is the opposite of easy, cheap and lazy.

Well the thread is about an overall mindset that exists in the minds of a lot of people and the focal point of that mindset came through in an article by Rob Pate.
