Do you have any evidence of this whatsoever? Anything?
Like I said, there is an article from AL.com yesterday laying out this concept, which I think is pretty compelling and matches up with everything I've ever heard on the subject. AL.com isn't generally an anti-Alabama publication, not that it publishes this information as factual.
Anyway, no, I don't have any hard evidence that one or more individuals with grudges ultimately led to the demise of UAB football. I do think it's pretty widely accepted that the BOT has hindered a lot of UAB's ambitions in the past, perhaps for good reason, perhaps not.

but you could certainly apply your argument to the majority of programs and every school in the country.
I'll be lambasted for this, but I don't think that athletics should have anything to do with academia. That's a tough sell, considering the long history in America, but it's pretty fricking retarded to run athletic departments at a loss. Club style sports, as in some parts of Europe, would ensure that the market dictates what can survive.

So it's just your supposition and you have no proof of this. Okay.
Not just mine. How would I have proof of this?
I'm fine with people like yourself saying "yeah, I'll choose to believe the official story from UAB." I'm not invested enough to try and convince you of anything. But a lot of folks think Paul has a grudge against UAB, there has been some anecdotal/situational evidence of that over the years, and there are plenty of questions about the decision to end the program that could support that theory.

Depends. It's hard to step back from what collegiate athletics has become and view how unsuccessful (or unproductive) athletic programs may add to the fabric of an institution. Honestly, I have trouble doing it even in an abstract sense. We're that far removed from days when athletic programs were integral parts of the school accessible to all/most students, at least at large schools, I mean.

I think the idea that UAB football was ended on account of a decades old grudge isn't far fetched.

I just don't see how it would be changed, unfortunately.

Please UA makes enough money off parking tickets on thier own students to fund that football program

I don't have any interest in UAB at all. I graduated from Auburn and UGA, and while I dislike Alabama, I'm not some crusader in this fight.
I wasn't targeting you with my statement, I meant the general "you" and it just so happened yours was the most recent post when I started mine. I actually think you're one of the more rational ones in this thread.
