re: The Alabama BOT isn't scared of competing with UAB on the field

I am having a hard time distinguishing between trolls and legitimate posts on this one. I have never seen a single post directed to UAB before the past month or so, and only now by posters from other SEC schools who have not the slightest understanding of what a boondoggle UAB football always has been. The program was losing money hand over fist, and was being subsidized by the University system. UAB wanted $75 million to build a downtown stadium when it had to give away seats to the games; the city of Birmingham was spending taxpayer money to purchase 5000 season tickets annually. The UAB folks are as free as the University of South Alabama to start a football program and to build a stadium if that is what they want. What a complete waste.

Sorry, I don't have nudes of my sister. I know that comes as a shock to you gumps, but most men attempt to mate with women who aren't related to them. It's probably just a difference in culture.

What was UAB's record last year? Who is their starting quarterback? Who is their head coach? How many bowl games have they reached?
If you can answer any of these off the top of your head, I'll legitimately believe you have at least some interest in UAB. Most of you probably couldn't even tell me the team name before the thing was shut down. Just an opportunity to criticize Bama
I don't have any interest in UAB at all. I graduated from Auburn and UGA, and while I dislike Alabama, I'm not some crusader in this fight.
I do think it is obvious that there is some bad blood directed toward UAB, and that the way this has gone down is kind of ridiculous in that people have wasted time, money, and energy into justifying the cessation of a program which in reality was terminated because some people with power wanted it gone. I don't pretend that the entire Alabama community is somehow responsible for that.

Ladd-Peebles is good enough for USA but Legion Field doesn't work for UAB.

It's funny how no one gave a shite about UAB a month ago and now they're all bleeding hearts. If anyone gave a shite, they'd still have a program.

Yes, nothing better than incest jokes directed towards folks from Alabama by folks from Mississippi.

It's just a whole different world when you go from Lauderdale County to Tishomingo County.

Well the President of UAB spelled it out pretty clearly in his statement. And I'd bet 90% of these trolls whining about it are the loudest bitchers when it comes to welfare and bloated government not being cut, which is essentially what that football program was existing on. I feel bad for the players and coaches and have nothing bad to say about UAB, but I'd much rather their money be spent on what they are good at. Alabama needs that way more than another football team.

Nailed it. Bryant Jr is pretty dispicable and the Bama BOT lets him run the show.
Also runs the UAB president. He is a wizard.

Do you have any evidence of this whatsoever? Anything?

Bitching about Alabama on the internet does not constitute 'fighting for it'.
If people actually gave a frick they wouldn't be in this position.

Like I said, the decision is justifiable, I just don't think the justifications prompted it. Based on what we know (to the extent we can know about intentions and feelings) I think the idea that UAB football was ended on account of a decades old grudge isn't far fetched.
I think your point is reasonable, but at the same time, that point would apply to plenty of Alabama athletic programs as well. Maybe none require the monetary output that a football program does, but you could certainly apply your argument to the majority of programs and every school in the country.

Yeah, I saw a picture of 25-30 people protesting in front of the admin building. That's got to be half their fan base.

So it's just your supposition and you have no proof of this. Okay.

You mean the group of 75 that was hanging out in front of the administration building?
I swear, my old high school would have put up more of a fight if someone tried to take away the Girls Basketball team.
