Well shite, what do you have to gain by playing anyone?

Pretty soon yall will just want to schedule 1-AA teams only and then run your conference schedule.

I don't really have any hate towards USM and I don't mind that we play them since it keeps money in the state of MS (which needs as much money as it can get).

I understand why ole miss is afraid to play them, because it's a lose-lose scenario for them, and as was evidenced my @memphis this year, ole miss loses those games.

It's a lose-lose for State as well, but we expect and do win.

Back in the 80s/early 90s USM was solid in football. The first phase of conference alignment really screwed them as independents quickly became non-viable (ie 1992 ish)

For the Aggies, this would be the equivalent of you playing Texas State. Would you schedule that?

When we scheduled them, they were playing for and winning CUSA. Fedora's team knocked Sumlin's Houston team out of a BCS bowl by beating them in the CUSA championship game. They were a shell of the team when we played them but for all we knew when we scheduled them, we probably assumed Fedora would have still been there.

Are you fricking retarded?

No, but apparently you didn't read the article or you have a very poor reading comprehension. The article assumes that the Big 12 will take at least one team from the AAC, which would leave an opening in that conference. The AAC is a higher profile conference than Conference USA. USM would like to be that replacement team in the AAC.

I hope that helped.

The AAC is a much better league, I hope they get in.

You do understand that there are more SEC quality athletes in Memphis than in Hattiesburg?

Or maybe you don't.

But Arkansas won't be adding Arkansas State
Gotta applaud, as has been said, LSU, Alabama and several others for playing in-state

now it makes sense

Well... not really. USM supports their athletics about like UH does. They NEVER sell out.

Having said that, yes, OM and MSU are chickens.

I said up front that the Ole Miss stadium has greater capacity. That is not equivalent to better fan experience.

How would you... a "Texas AM fan" know this.

Because I have been to a lot of the Ole Miss / USM games. Including the one in Oxford in 1970 when Southern beat Ole Miss with their own bourbon.

Would be a dream come true. USM isn't half bad and we're in a hotbed talent zone. We'll take the scraps that the SEC school doesn't want

OM & State

So you're taking MSU's recruiting strategy too?

Well not everyone else. Arkansas dodges ASU as well.

I was big proponent of the USM game and we even did a 1 and 1 with them. I never want to play them again however after the game in Hattiesburg. The shite they pulled with tickets was so bush league I don't care to ever go back.

So Ole Miss doesn't play USM anymore. Well:

LSU doesn't play Tulane anymore
Arkansas doesn't play Arkansas State
Alabama and Auburn have never played Troy
Florida has played S. Florida just one time (2010)
Tennessee doesn't play Memphis anymore
A&M doesn't play Houston anymore

I fail to see how Ole Miss is any different in this regard. How does it help us to play USM? It doesn't help with recruiting and it doesn't help with exposure and nobody wants to go to Hattiesburg for a football game.

We already play Memphis, which is close enough to USM level and much more of a historic game for us. We've only played USM 24 times in the history of the program. We've played Memphis 61 times. Last year that game bit us in the arse.
