Pretty sure the reason we didn't go to the Texas Bowl was because of LSU.
The original pairings were:
Texas - LSU
Music City - A&M
Liberty - Tennessee
Gator - Arkansas
Once Notre Dame was announced, LSU wanted them. When the SEC told the Texas bowl that A&M was going, t.u. threw a shite fit.

Yeah I mean look how successful your conference has been since we left. Oh that's right the SWC exploded after we left and the Big 8 turned Big12 saved many of you but then that didn't work either and teams were leaving in mass exodus. Until we got to where we are today with Texas turning themselves into a prissy finesse team with no backbone. Typical of the Texass history of having all the money and recources in the world but not nearly enough brains or coaching ability to get the any natl.hardware to justify your exsistance as a supposed big dog of college football .

That's an odd statement, Arkansas just had what we would all consider a really bad year and yet they are a thousand times more relevant as a national program than texass
