The SEC is tougher no doubt, but it was the right path for A&M. In order to not be little brother as so many claim we had to separate from the large burnt orange shadow. Will there be championships? No idea. But things will never be as they were.
A&M has the ability to establish its own identity now, and the resources to stand on an equal footing with Texas. The schools trade times of dominance - when I was in school A&M was the "it" University, and JS and RC were trouncing Texas on a yearly basis. Also, to show how much things can change, LSU sucked canal water at the time.
A&M has separated from Texas, and is currently dominating them on all fronts... Will that continue? Probably for awhile if history is anything to go by. When Texas does rise again, they are going to have to work through the issues of being in a crap conference with uninteresting games. But somewhere down the line, they will be good again.

and still they forget.
The SEC Network has not even kicked off yet, and A&M has already pulled itself up beyond bevo.
Look at the amazing facilities you have now to help recruit with, along with the new stadium that will be a center piece for displaying many games in what is undeniably the best football conference in America.
I think these posters who say bevo always is and forever will be the goat just don't have the foresight to see why they could easily be wrong.

And for those who say people will always choose Texas? Please... I went to A&M on a full ride academic scholarship, and could have done the same at Texas.
I spent my high school years in Austin, and was frankly sick of Texas by the time I went to school.

Well the big four used to be sugar, rose, cotton, and orange.

Huh. An anti-semitic piggie.
I guess that makes sense, what with the whole "pork is unclean" thing.

Eh, its a tough question. Right now aTm is leading the charge but Texas is, and has been, a life long brand in that state. Folks who have spent some time in Texas understand this. Its not a knock on aTm but its the reality.
Now, Texas needs to get out of the Big 12 with a quickness otherwise aTm will surpass them for good.
Make no mistake, the move to the SEC was an "all in" play by aTm and the longer Texas/Austin sits in the pathetic Big 12 the more the signs point to
aTm making the permanent move to the head of the table in Texas hierarchy
Stillwater,Aimes,Lawrence,Manhatten, Morgantown,Norman.... If I were a Texas recruit, Im sure, all things being equal, that I would chose that over the SEC West/cross divisional schedule.
The signs on the wall folks. SEC Network money. Conference prestige..we are all lucky to be here. Especially the "Low earners", you know who you are.
Think about that, "The Big 12" what a shite conference.

Their own arrogance is keeping them there. The whole narrative about TCU being an "upgrade" over A&M is what kept Baylor in line.
Now that Baylor and Iowa State have directly and publicly tied their stadium renovations to remaining members of the Big 12 and having it be a "power" conference, if Texas leaves, they actually have a claim for damages and can make it like trying to escape one of the traps in the movie Saw.
Not only that, but the "grant of rights" goes through 2025.

Indeed it did. The Fiesta was a "WAC" bowl at first. Then in 1978, Arizona and ASU moved to the PAC. It moved to NYD in 1981, but didn't become big time until 1986.
The Cotton was major until the closing of the SWC. At that time it became a Tier 2 NYD with the Citrus and Outback. All that said, A&M has won 3 Cotton Bowls over the last 50 years when it was considered a "Big 4" bowl.

Naw, Mizzou tricked them into signing that 10+ year GOR before they left. Even Texas can't afford the hundreds of millions of dollars it would take to break a GOR.
Eventually they will leave the Big 12 and be fine, a ten year period isn't long enough to kill their program. I hope it is long enough to pretty much kill every other Big 12 program. The fewer regional recruiting rivals the better.

Almost 10 pages of Aggies telling everyone how they don't care about Texas.

I'd say the CB in '13 where A&M destroyed the big 12 champ OU was a bigger bowl ( had higher ratings) than the Fiesta that yr
