i agree. we are on the same page. I dont like the expansion talks at all. id rather bunch of 10 and 12 team conferences vs 4 or so giant 16 team ones. I dont want to watch a bunch of 2 loss teams play for the nc.

i don't really consider Fayetteville to be the south or southeast either.

Why REF$u never comes to the SEC.
quote:
------------- September 17, 1990 St. Petersburg Times, Pg 10C BOWDEN FAVORED FSU’S MOVE TO ACC “I think we made a wise decision,” Bowden said. . .”We have more flexibility. When you’re in the SEC, you can’t afford to play a good non-conference schedule. You can’t play Notre Dame and Miami. Playing an ACC scehedule, we can play Notre Dame, we can play Auburn, we can play Miami, we can play Florida. We’ve got all we want.” He goes on “Look at any conference: it’s two schools and the others. . .but the SEC has six teams that can win the thing. That might be a negative rather than a plus. I want to win a national championship. Winning a conference championship doesn’t feed my ego.” From the same press conference September 20, 1990 L.A.. Times, Section C9, from the Lexis database FLORIDA STATE REVERSE WAS THE SMART PLAY “Bowden preferred the ACC for the SEC for the last reason. No team, he reasoned, wins a national championship with an 8-3 record, a distinct possibility ion the ultracompetitive SEC. [FSU] was willing to join the SEC if the Seminoles didn’t have to play Auburn and Alabama in the same year. The league declined.” Read more:

added article that claims Arkansas is lobbying for Missouri to get an SEC invite.

I am for NO expansion. If it's going to happen, the positive is Missouri would bring in new TV's for the conf, and again...our basketball rivalry.

pardon my ignorance, but is this something that each school would have to vote and agree upon? or can the SEC commish pretty much add or drop anybody he wants?

I said it yesterday, and ill say it again. Mizzou is worthless to the SEC. I have no problem adding A and M but Mizzou just adds nothing. At all.

I'm not sure about that... I believe Slive already has the go-ahead from league schools to explore expansion options and decide what he thinks is best for the league. I'm sure Slive has constant discussion with league members about this very issue.
There would probably be a ceremonial vote, but Slive would already have the votes/support in his pocket.

Each AD would have to vote, not sure if it has to be majority or unanimous.

any moves that are made better keep LSU in the same division as Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss.

Several sources inside Texas A&M suggest a move could happen sooner rather than later if current conference conditions remain the same, which frankly surprises me if true. I was told it could be "weeks" versus "next year" in terms of a final decision to accept a standing offer to join the SEC. That would likely mean a move to the SEC for the 2013 athletic season.
If this is accurate, "weeks" is pretty darm imminent IMO.

so they would become immediate members and starting competing against current SEC schools this season? no.
thread should read DECISION could happen soon

Like I said above, I don't see them switching current SEC teams despite the fact that many have speculated that it could happen. I just don't think that will happen.
Is it possible that Auburn moves East? Certainly, but I think Slive will work to make additions that leave the current SEC landscape as undisturbed as possible.

lets do this! missouri and a&M!

I'd like to see A&M for sure. Getting more of the Houston market would be $weet....
Mizzou? They'd be better off in the Big 10. Give us VT in the East.

I think the addition of aTm might hurt LSU recruiting less than you think. We may lose out on some kids, but we could just as easily get a few that want to play out of state and would still be able to play a game or two in Texas over their career.
