Dude moved the goalposts of his argument every other post.
Either a troll or not worth the effort, but that list pretty much ends that discussion.

Also, out of 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014, only 2012 finished with a class outside of the top 10.

And yes, you had 4 and 5 stars on both sides of the ball including the DL.

So keep blaming Chavis and thinking that Steele with marginally better recruits will be the answer lol.

2011:

DT Anthony Johnson 5 star - Completely undeveloped by Haley. Nicknamed Freak Johnson for his athletic ability. 2 year starter.

DE Jermauria Rasco 4 star - Completely undeveloped by Haley.

DT Mickey Johnson 4 star - Completely undeveloped by Haley. Joke of a player.

S Micah Eugene 4 star - Played very minimal snaps, booted off team in 2013.

CB Jalen Collins 4 star - Developed well by Corey Raymond but wa never a shutdown corner. 2nd RD pick for Atlanta Falcons.

SDE/DT Quentin Thomas 3 star - Career backup, never made an impact.

CB/S Ronald Martin 3 star - Played 3 full years and provided leadership in 2014. Was the glue that kept the 2014 defense together.

2012:

OLB Kwon Alexander 4 star - Rejected by Alabama after a traumatic injury in HS. Had insane football instincts and turned into a great player.

WDE Danielle Hunter 4 star - Described as "the next Von Miller" by his HS coach. Never developed into anything. 2nd round pick by Vikings. Vikings said he never learned any technique while at LSU

CB Dwayne Thomas 4 star - Career backup and nickel player. Being abused currently.

OLB Ronnie Feist 4 star - Has never played a down in LSU uniform. Has been moved to FB

S Corey Thompson 4 star - Has played limited snaps and is now a starter in 2015. Has no disappointed but hasn't made a large impact.

OLB Lamar Louis 4 star - Has made almost no impact as an LSU player. Still on team.

OLB Deion Jones 3 star - Former HS RB, has developed into a strong safety playing OLB. Extremely fast.

CB Jalen Mills 3 star - Moved to safety due to lack of coverage skills. Currently on roster. Suffered broken leg and missed a majority of 2015 season.

2013:

CB Tre'Davious White 4 star - Shut down cornerback who is currently suffering a leg injury.

ATH Kendell Beckwith 4 star - Moved to ILB after playing DE his entire freshman year. Was a backup to DJ Welter in 2014 until the Florida game. Has become a solid MLB.

SDE Frank Herron 4 star - Moved to DT and has barely contributed through his career. Has lost athleticism with weight gain.

DT Greg Gilmore 4 star - Career backup, would suit well as a 3-4 DE.

SDE Tashawn Bower 4 star - Starter in 2015 until replaced by Arden Key. Has not made any impact.

WR Rickey Jefferson 4 star - Moved to S. Started in 2015 due to Jalen Mills' absence. Has been benched since.

ILB Melvin Jones 4 star - Moved to FB. Never played a snap on defense. Has been booted off team.

SDE Christian LaCouture 4 star - Moved to DT and has been a starter since 2014. Serviceable at best.

DT Maquedius Bain 3 star - Played sparingly and has been booted off team. Never made an impact.

CB Rashard Robinson 3 star - Brandon Browner type player. Shut down Mike Evans in 2013. Booted off team in 2014.

WDE Michael Patterson 3 star - Has not played at all, ever.

WDE Lewis Neal 3 star - Backup until 2015. Chavis moved him to DT in 2014 in an attempt to get some production in that position. Has transformed into a solid player under current regime.

OLB Duke Riley 3 star - Career backup. Has played sparingly.

2014:

OLB Clifton Garrett 5 star - Never played a down at LSU in a game or spring game. HUGE BUST. Booted from team.

S Jamal Adams 5 star - outstanding safety and has played since early 2014.

S Ed Paris 4 star - moved to CB. Has not played any meaningful snaps.

DT Travonte Valentine 4 star - Showed up at LSU severely overweight. Booted off football team after grade issue.

SDE Davon Godchaux 4 star - Moved to DT and started as a freshman. Has been serviceable. Severely undersized.

SDE Deondre Clark 4 star - Played sparingly in 2014 with no impact. Has not played in 2014.

S Devin Voorhies 4 star - Has been moved to OLB because lack of depth. Weighs 205 pounds.

WDE Sione Teuhema 3 star - Played some in 2014 as a nose tackle in the mustang formation. Has not played in 2015.

S John Battle 3 star - Redshirted in 2014, has played in 2015 sparingly.

DT Trey Lealaimatafao 3 star - Redshirted in 2014, booted due to character issues.

OLB Donnie Alexander 3 star - Weighs around 209lbs currently. Has rarely played.

ATH Russell Gage 3 star - Appeared in one game in 2014 as a CB.

t's not like they didn't try. They offered him MORE than he is currently making at A&M. But Chavis wants to win, and he knows that nobody can win with the current offensive staff at LSU.

I think that Chavis wanted to get away from Miles. Chavis realized that Miles wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, that Miles was never going to change his offense philosophy, that Chavis' defense would always be relied upon to win the games, and Chavis got tired of it.

Chavis got a lot of blame from the LSU fanbase when LSU would lose a close one. Chavis felt that was unjustified, given the moribund and hapless nature of the LSU offense.

Chavis probably felt that, although Miles was safe, some adversity would come to LSU, and some coaches might be fired. So, he bolted when he has a good opportunity to do so. He didn't want to be around when Miles finally failed, and, he got away from all that drama that's coming to Baton Rouge.

That's my humble opinion, anyway.

I wonder why. Haley at least got the bodies onto campus. Chavis either squandered LB talent or failed to implement them. You forgot to mention his golden child DJ Welter

So basically you couldn't develop talent, so you decided to go find someone who is only known for recruiting to fix your problems.

Man you guys are fricking brilliant.

You mean the terrible 4 and 5 star bodies on the list, the ones that don't count towards good recruiting but count as talent that wasn't developed to potential?

quote:

Chavis either squandered talent

Sounds like Haley did the squandering.

quote:

Dj Welter

So out of Chavis' time at LSU you have one instance of mismanaged personnel that resulted in a top 25 defense, and proven that Haley could recruit but not develop.
To fix this, you hired more recruiters who are not developers by any sense of the word.

Bro, what aren't you following?

Not sure how many of those guys Chavis actually recruited.

At any rate Steele has been a downgrade over Chavis. Hopefully it will get better in year two since defensively we are quite young, but I have my doubts.

Let's look at Chavis' recruiting efforts for his LBs.

2010:

Luke Muncie 3 star - Rarely played. Was not a good player.

DJ Welter 3 star - AWFUL PLAYER. Chavis played him at MLB for two years over much more talented players.

2011:

No linebackers taken

2012:

Kwon Alexander 4 star - Bama reject. Played great for LSU.

Lorenzo Phillips 4 star - Never played for LSU.

Ronnie Feist 4 star - Moved to FB

Lamar Louis 4 star - Career backup

Deion Jones 3 star - Finally starting as a senior in 2015

Trey Granier 3 star - Never even heard of this dude.

2013:

Melvin Jones 4 star - Moved to FB

Duke Riley 3 star - Career backup so far

2014:

Clifton Garrett 5 star - Complete bust. Kicked out of LSU

Donnie Alexander 3 star - Backup so far. Severely undersized.

2015:

No linebackers taken

2016 so far with Steele:

Michael Divinity 4 star

Erick Fowler 4 star

Rahssan Thornton 4 star

Andre Anthony 3 star

Steele

Orgeron has developed multiple NFL pro bowlers and first round draft picks.

Steele has been a LB coach literally all over the country from FSU, Nebraska, Alabama, Clemson, etc and has recruited and developed multiple NFL players.

Dude Steele's upcoming class could just as easily bust like that '12 LB class. We were all pumped up for those guys too.

Bad form.

Then why the huge drop off in production?
Pre Chavis: defense outside of top 30
Chavis: 26th, 18th, top 10 till he leaves.
Post Chavis: defense outside of top 30

Also, just because he wasn't the designated recruiter does not mean having Chavis as a DC didn't sway players to come to LSU at all positions.
