Because we are the only ones to play in a real conference. Texas Tech, Iowa State, Kansas, West Virginia, tu, Oklahoma and three non-con powderpuffs got those teams to 9 wins without blinking.

The 2014 SEC turned out to be a paper tiger

I don't think I am the only literate and educated person on here. It might seem that way sometimes, but those SEC East fans are actual people and not just southern caricatures for the most part (basically USC excluded).

if we're all so lowly, why do you want to be lumped in with us so badly? other than to flee your overseers of course, that one's a given.

Duh, the SEC brand is the tops and our brand circa 2011 was absolute shite. We traded eyeballs for mindshare and exposure. I would do that trade any day.

so tDickride is real and you embrace it, outstanding. SEC is glad to profit from you without ever having to really let you in.

The country loves it every time ESPN has to scrape Aggy off somebody's bumper. The reanimation efforts every offseason are good entertainment as well. No such thing as bad pub.

Hey we get a piece of it too so its not like we are letting the SEC raid OUR treasure chest. It is more like we kept getting our lunch money stolen by the school bully, so we convinced a real gang to beat up him and his family and loot all the valuable things from their house before setting it on fire. Without the SEC we weren't going to get that money either. Win-win for us.

Exactly. When your program gets to a point that nationally people confuse you with Texas Tech despite having a top 10 enrollment you need SOME sort of publicity. What RC, Fran and Sherm couldn't win on the field we are winning in the boardroom one move at a time- SEC move while tearing down the reputation of the conference we recruit against, forcing a new T-Day game to overshadow theirs, killing OU in a facilities race, getting Chavis, etc. In this life you gotta take what you can when you can and however you can.

I get that you are an A&M hater, but even you have respect it is amazing how much we have accomplished for our program with such little football success. We got further in four years than a program like a Boise St., who actually earns it, will get in my entire lifetime.

When is the last time anyone outside of Texas gave a shite about the Aggies in a Thanksgiving Day game?

You've got to go all the way back to 1975 to find a game where both schools were in the top 10.

How long has it been since a conference title was on the line?

No one ever, but that isn't the point Brer. Out of the 247 countries in the world Texas has more people than 199 of them. If we win the hearts and minds of Texans that is like owning our own country.

Brer, Brer, Brer. Don't fall into that trap. Don't measure it with the SEC ruler or it won't make sense.

The bottom line of Thanksgiving is they thought it was their tradition, and not our tradition. They thought that they could have full custody to the day (when TEXANS are looking for football) simply by rotating some private schools in because it was really all about them and never even a little bit about us. The fact that we can have a game that will get better rating than theirs (aka be more relevant), even though their game had a playoff contender in it this year, is worth tens of millions of dollars to us in pride and local exposure.

When Texans look for Thanksgiving football they have options, and the more that picks our option today the less 30 years from now the "We're Texas" mindset resonates in the hearts of both recruits and fans. 100 year decisions and all.

I hate to break it to your aghole-centric self, but The University of Texas played other teams on Thanksgiving before its first Turkey Day tilt versus A&M.

Nor, after first playing A&M on Thanksgiving, was A&M the sole Texas opponent on Thanksgiving Day (Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Baylor come to mind).

Get over yourself.
