Ga Southern
First losing season in eons
No offensive prowess during his time
Vandy streak ended

1-3 against FSU

1-3 against UG
Should have had streak ended to UK but they didn't defend the last pass.
4-0 vs UT
Sugar bowl complete failure

Sellout streak also ended during the Muschamp era

Fair enough, but not as bad as Dooley. Just nowhere near as bad as Dooley. The Sugar Bowl was a crapfest, sure, but it was a crapfest in the Sugar Bowl. We were having our crapfests against Troy and Akron.

Georgia Southern would have beaten us the year they beat Florida, and Derek Dooley wasn't even coaching us. They had a lot of edge speed which Tennessee couldn't handle if their lives depended on it that year. UF still went 3-5 in the SEC, too.

Sure, it was bad, but it was one losing season. How'd you like to have 7 losses four times in a row? IT'S NOT PLEASANT, SIR. NOT AT ALL.

The offense looked like it was well planned and executed. We haven't seen that since 2006.

Our offense doesn't need to be top 10. We just need to be average and the defense should be enough for 7 or 8 wins this year and with some nice breaks, maybe 9 wins.

Florida fans acting like they have a QB and threatening offense.

I know right. They are dumb. We actually have 2 QBs to envy and a top 10 offense.

I think we match up really well. We didn't have that much attrition from our Dbacks and they were a strength from last year's team so I really think the BG game was an anomaly. OU couldn't run the ball worth shite against Akron because their oline is so bad, I'm really excited for that matchup.

And Tennessee fans acting like their defense giving up 557 yards isn't a red flag.

Okay.

Our Oline did an amazing job in pass protection against Utah State last year and we know how that ended up. Like I said, I'll wait for this week before I start bitching about position groups. One bad game doesn't mean shite

A learning moment for sure for our young CBs.

Getting Martin, Kelly and now McNeil back will certainly help going forward though.

Lets see how we do Saturday before we panic.

I just watched the replay and it seemed like Evan Berry was a liability out there. He did have a great KO return but I thought he looked bad on D.

UT excuses inbound in 3...2...1...

Called it. A ton of excuses in this thread.

Realistically, Tennessee's defense is not as bad as people are hoping it is, but it certainly showed some vulnerability in the secondary last week. There just isn't any other way to spin giving up that many big plays.

It's not like Bowling Green was running a dink and dunk offense, throwing the ball 70 times to get all those yards... their QB threw 49 times and averaged 8.5 yards per attempt and didn't throw a single interception.

That being said, and what a lot of people aren't giving enough respect too, is that Tennessee had a dominating running game, and ridiculously good special teams. In fact, there was a time in the game when UT was in danger of losing control, but they had so many good special teams plays in the first half, that they were able to control field position, and Bowling Green could never get over the hump really.

So even if you figure the defense will be a vulnerability this year, and I assume it will improve as starters come back, the offense and special teams should keep them in every game they play.

Just my 2 cents.

Both safeties looked like shite. Evan can hit like his big brother, but he doesn't have the same football IQ. It's a damn shame too, because I think he could be great.

Really the only DB that didn't look terrible was Sutton, and you'll notice that they pretty much stayed the hell away from him.

The defense also stayed in in either press 1 or press 0 the entire game, I'm gonna be optimistic and assume that was a strategic move to prevent Oklahoma from getting a good look at our defensive schemes. But those particular plays require good technique from your corners and pass rush from your D-line, we got neither. The weakness of that defense is deep down the sidelines, and where did they throw the ball, deep down the sidelines.

If yall were blowing BG out the whole game, I would agree that probably was in play.

But given the fact that BG was in the game till midway through the 3rd Q, I have to disagree.

All we need is someone to hand it to Chubb so I'm not worried either.

What brilliant strategy for UT! Here all of us non believers thought the hillbillies sucked for giving up 557 yds...the staff was clever and were trying to hide the REAL UT defense!

Now...when OU rolls up 620 yds on ya...make sure to post here what the strategy was ..ok? Oh....I think I know already...they didnt what UF to know their defense is really doing!! Smart...smart. That way your conference foe isnt clued in on your defensive playbook. That Butchy is a sly dude.

didn't you hear? Bowling Green is not your typical 'cupcake' opponent!

Bowling Green's QB is a darkhorse Heisman candidate! Their offense is the 2nd coming of Oregon's offense! It was all part of Wife Beater Butch's plans to trick Oklahoma!! Vols are back bro

Starting SS - LaDerrell McNeil -Sr.- will be back later in the year.

2nd String SS - Todd Kelly - So - Will be back this week (he came in near the end of the game and after he did they didn't score again) He had tonsil surgery and coaches didn't want to have to play him.

1st string/2nd string CB - Justin Martin - He should be back this week.

3rd String SS - Devaun Swofford - Out for Season

Starting Nickel Back - Rashaun Gaulden - Out for Season

Uhhhhh so a couple backups are coming back and you think that's going to change the entire complexion of your defense? Guys who are "out for the season" are gone, they are not fall backs for "we should be better".

You're about to get lit up by OU.

Do you ever intend on having actual discussion, or is it your life's ambition to be a sad, pathetic, Volsessed bitch?

Seriously dude, you add absolutely NOTHING to this board. You don't discuss football, you aren't funny, and quite frankly you're boring to everyone but yourself.

We really need Korin or one of his alters to come back.
