the UT AD will not make a knee jerk reaction as long as the team shows improvement, whether that translates in enough wins or not.

Firing Dooley would not be knee jerk. It will be warranted unless he beats a team that matters.

He needs a minimum of eight regular season wins, and that doesn't guarantee he returns.
If I had to guess, he'll be fired if Tennessee does worse than 9-3.

Problem with Strong is that he is a 4-3 guy. The Vols just switched to a 3-4, Strong would switch the Vols back.

Seems pretty pointless to hire a head coach based on a defensive formation used for one year.
