Do you think we will retain Dooley or will we fire him? I personally believe he will be fired after the South Carolina game kinda like Fulmer. Personally I hope we get a really big name and Jim Haslma gives him a blank check to write whatever his price. I think some of the names we will go after are Peterson, Patterson, and Kirby Smart.

We should know after October.

I want Chris Petersen! (no homo)

but seriously, we're only 3 weeks into the season. we have several more games left that will decide Dooley's fate.

But if Haslam is giving out blank checks,I'd hope has his eyes set on a much bigger prize like Gruden,Stoops or some other pipe dream.

I'm sure they'll target some big names. The hard part is getting them to say yes.

if I had to bet I think UT goes 8-4 and Dooley gets at least one more season. I still have faith in this team. faith in HC? it's getting worse and worse. but not ready to completely write him off yet.

Worst case scenario. If he survives 8-4, it probably means the people in power don't know who to hire. That or the fourth loss is a close game against Alabama.

I think he'd do a good job, best bang for your buck. Just me but I'd be scared of Gruden, Kotter, Carroll..etc, any NFL coach for that matter..

Dooley's gone. That decision has already been made by the ones who count...the big money boosters.

Even with as many resources and wonderful facilities as the Vols have, I don't see them hiring a big name head coach. They'll go the same route UF did, and hire the next up-and-coming assistant coach.

My out-on-a-limb prediction: Manny Diaz

Note that I'm not saying this will be Tennessee's first choice, just the guy the Vols end up with.

Your taking the same chance on Smart that you did with Dooley
At least Dooley had head coach experience
You don't know if Smart can handle the keys to a major program or not
You hired Sunseri to get a Saban style defense
Give it time

My guess is that they interview Strong to fulfill the minority requirement then they push strong for the best they can get. If they cant find anyone better then they settle for Strong.

I heard over on Volnation that either Mike Tomlin or one of the Harbaugh brothers will be the next coach in Knoxville...

Only one of them? Last I heard the plan was to make them co-head coaches.

Strong is the safest (most potential) up-and-comer on the market.

I think Paul Rhodes is the next best...

Smart is overrated as a head coaching candidate and I hope he ends up busting at Arky.
