He has played an extremely slow pace the last few years. Not sure where this myth that he likes to play fast comes from.

Its because his team's games were not on TV that often.

There was a reason for this...

Dale, don't be a rude son of a bitch. Tell us all why. I've been on pins and needles for several minutes now.

It is the most efficient shot if you can make it.

Better than a mid-range or long jumper given the odds vs. pts and if you have rebounders underneath not a terrible risk.

This is extremely difficult to do in college basketball with the likelihood of a lot of big time jobs opening up in the next couple of years

Duke, Syracuse, UNC, and U of L have coaches that are getting up there in age.

Indiana is starting to get sick of Crean

Kentucky, Florida, and Michigan State could eventually lose their coaches to the NBA

A lot of guys like where they are at and don't feel like the risk of taking a job like this is worth it.

When you only have 1.9 million in reserves? Yeah he gets real close to your first choice. We broke. 2 years ago we were 200 million in debt now we're 1.9 million+ in the black so it's gotten a frick lot better since Hart took over but y'all don't seem to get that AD Mike Hamilton ran the AD into the ground with poor management, 4 coaches buyouts including the gloriously large Dooley buyout and the 6 million dollar man, capital projects out the arse, and general mismanagement. We're not gonna have the money for a big name hire for another year or two but going from -200 mill to +1.9 that quickly is still pretty good.

And finally, Tyndall has a better resume than Zo did. He's a good hire - we can't afford a Marshall right now. 2 years from now? Yeah but not right now.

Good info ... With that being said, since y'all are back in black, I would wanna throw some money around and get a nice hire. Instead, it seems as though he's taking a gamble and throwing money to the wind... Obviously this AD understands a little more about debt consolidation than I do.. So I say good job and good luck maybe this guy will show out for y'all!

Finally a post that makes sense of a situation that from the outside looking in, seemed senseless.

Best of luck to the Vols going forward.

It's infuriating that we're so close to having money again but not close enough to really be going around wasting money on a big name hire that may or may not pan out - lots of them don't. Hart's in the unenviable position of trying to get a good hire without reaching to the big fish that could bankrupt us (it's not just their salaries but their staff salaries too and of course the buyouts). But all we can do right now is wait for the money to replenish.

No. Dooley had a losing record and never should've been hired in the first place. Our interim coach would've been a better choice. Mike Hamilton seemed to be in love with guys who had father's who could coach but who had poor resumes themselves. He hired Kiffin and Dooley back to back.

Thankfully Hamilton is gone.
