I think Butch and UT are a good pair. I hope he stays there a long time and never learns to be more than a mediocre head coach who comes up with the best slogans ever.

I wanted Phil fired. It was time for him to go. Hamilton fricked that up. Time to ride with Coach K. Not my choice for sure but his arse needs to be on a short leash, 3 years. I'll give this guy time to work but losing to Florida last year in that situation was unacceptable.

There...your post has been transformed to a UT post from 2010. Enjoy your next decade of misery.

UT has a rich football history but honestly its sort of an anamoly. Their location alone shouldve been a huge hurdle, not much talent comes out of that state. The team colors suck ballz. They are doomed for eternity now. The Fulmer curse

Unlike most of the SEC towns, Knoxville is a real city and on a major national highway. That is a help to recruiting some.

Back when the players were really students and mostly from the area around the unversity, or from the state, is when Tennessee reeled off some eye popping numbers - six undefeated seasons, nine undefeated regular seasons, seven conference championships, and four national championships and undefeated streaks of 33, 28, 23, 19, and 14 games.

Of course that is when General Neyland was the coach. A UT alum, Beattie Feathers, was the first RB to gain 1,000 yards in an NFL season. That was 1934.

Coach Fulmer, by the way is the person associated with the most UT victories as a player and coach - 182.

From 2005:

"Since legendary head coach Gen. Robert R. Neyland coached his first team at Tennessee in 1926, the Vols have won more games (618) than any other school in the country."

One is struggling to regain its former glory and the other doesn't matter.

One SEC school is 0-4 against baby shoes Lyle and has not kept any game within single digits, losing by an average of 22 points per game.

1 is 0-4, without coming within single digits of beating Butch Jones. You figure it out.

Imagine, for a moment, being dominated, by a guy like Butch Jones

We cannot afford the buyout.

Actually, we can easily afford the buyout. It would be a mistake to fire Lyle after consecutive 9 win seasons tho. If we had given him an extension last year, we'd be fricked. But if we go 6-6 or worse, we can fire him and the job is much more appealing.

Lol "trending up". Until Kentucky can beat Florida, Georgia or VOLS with any semblance of regularity in football, they will continue to be an SEC also ran and their shitty fan base will be more concerned with basketball in October.
