So a three loss team is losing TEN underclassmen to the draft. Only two possible conclusions can be drawn here.

1. LSU D will drop off, but Chavis is a very good DC. LSU will be ok on D, but not as good next year. We'll see next year how much off a drop it is.

2. The offense will remain the same as it has for the past 8 years.

It is also worth pointing out that these "stars" we are losing played their best as FR and SO.

Most kinda sucked this year. That includes Mingo, Montgomery, Simon, and Reid. Minter, of course, was the exception.

I love Ole Miss fans. I went there and they are so adorable with their wish to be relevant.

The talent disparity alone keeps Ole Miss out of the top 3 in the West for at least another year.

And I am predicting an LSU loss to them in Oxford.

OMG WE ALMOST GOT JOE MCKNIGHT! OMG COACH O! OMG JEVAN FOR HEISMAN! OMG CO-WEST CHAMPS! OMG HOUSTON NUTT WON THE COTTON BOWL TWICE!

They're runts and probably always will be.

Simon was downright bad this year. Reid was mediocre. The secondary will be no doubt improved considering we had 2 freshman corners this past year.

Our LBs with Debo, Kwon, Jones, and Barrow will be the best LSU has had in a decade.

Only on the SECr could we have countless threads last summer about how Reid, Simon, Mingo, and Montgomery would go pro after this season, it happens, then posters trying to flame LSU act like they are shocked that those consensus top talents would leave early.

Well Sam was good and was a lockerroom leader. However neither Sam nor Mingo had stellar years. They didn't suck, but they weren't anything special like they were the year before.

to he honest, every one of those played better in 2011 than they did in 2012 except Minter.

Reid and Simon were avg SEC DBs this year, anyone who says overwise is FOS.

Go look up Sam and KeKe stats and tell me LSU simply cannot replace them. They combined for like 11 sacks this year.

I think we take a hit but anyone saying LSU cant overcome this and is in trouble is simply wrong.

Just wishful thinking on yalls part.

They didn't play up to the level they played at last year. Most LSU fans will say the same about each and every player on our D except Minter, who was an absolute beast this year.

LSU expected this for the most part. Maybe not Minter, but the rest for sure. There is a reason we broke in the second most freshman in the country last year.

I agree with this. LSU will probably be fine in the front line. Lots of guys with playing time can take on increased rolls, but just about the entire 2 deep will be guys that have never seen the field before. I don't think there will be a backup with any amount of real playing time on the defensive roster other than OLB and S.

To me, that's a bit concerning.

definitely. but we return 4/5 of the o-line (post injuries and one guy quitting the team)

what was your starting oline this year? i did not follow you roster injuries. i could have sworn that both faulk and longergan were starters.

Ten underclassmen at LSU now declared for draft: is LSU sinking? So a three loss team is losing TEN underclassmen to the draft. Only two possible conclusions can be drawn here. 1) The coaching staff must be terrible if they lost THREE games with a team that had enough talent to have TEN underclassmen declare for the NFL, or... 2) There is something seriously wrong with morale around the football program to have guys jumping ship like that(just look at where they're projected to go in the draft for your answer). Something ain't right....and y'all know it!

I'll take #3 for 500 Alex. So far this year 66 underclassmen have declared for the draft. That beats the previous record of 65 that declared for last years draft. Last years 65 beat the previous record set in the 2011 draft. Fact is, with the way the NFL is setup now kids know they make their money on their 2nd contract. Each year more and more underclassmen are moving to the league to start their careers earlier.

Even if they do not get drafted, they make a very comfortable living on a practice squad.

It is very rare these days that a senior returns and improves his draft status. They risk coming back to injury and decline in performance. Matt Barkley can tell you all about this.

This is a trend that will continue over the next few years.
