How much talent can LSU afford to lose? Will they even be competitive next year?

OT Chris Faulk
Punter Brad Wing
DE Barkevious Mingo
DE Sam Montgomery
DT Bennie Logan
FS Eric Reid
MLB Kevin Minter
CB Tharold Simon
TB Spencer Ware
TB Michael Ford

Losing Ford, Ware, and Wing isn't really a big deal so I look at it like they are losing 7 impact guys.

I'm sure they will have talent to replace them but losing that many players at once will affect them this season.

Doesn't this show that we have tons of NFL talent? I don't think that is really a bad thing

Also Faulk was hurt all year and didnt play. Was already gone... The way i see it.

It will hurt to lose those key defensive players though. Hopefully the depth that we've played with will help limit the blow.

That's a big number. LSU has plenty of talent to be competitive, but this will hurt them for next year. Especially in terms of depth.

People will say losing guys like Ware and Ford is no big deal, which is true UNLESS you have an injury or two to RBs. Then it is all of the sudden a big deal.

Lack of experienced depth gives you very little room for error (i.e., injuries).

It will hurt but LSU will still be good, 3rd in the West for them.

We'll have some growing pains for sure, but given how much talent we have we're going to be a salty bunch by week 8, if not sooner with TCU in week 1.

On D we lose a ton no doubt. But anyone who knows anything about the LSU roster knows we have the talent AND the coaching to develop them into an elite D. only a question of how quickly it happens.

On O we bring back everyone, although losing Faulk hurts a lot, that's the only one on our whole team I think REALLY stings. But, no matter what you think about our coaching, we pretty much bring back everyone on that side of the ball so it can only get better. How much better? remains to be seen.

To answer your question, we'll be competitive. And if we get it together on D in the first month, watch out, anything is possible........

Don't discredit how nice it is to have a great Punter like Wing.

Our punting situation may have cost us 2 games this year. And for sure cost us the LSU game.

I was about to post about discounting Wing.

Those punts of his really flip a field. That will be missed. I remember when we lost Lechler and it really made a difference in field position.

Good punters are a strong weapon, albeit not a sexy one.

the seniors not listed as being on the practice squad are as follows:
Russell Sheppard WR
Drew Alleman K
Rockey Duplessis S
Tyler Edwards TE
PJ Longeran C
Josh Dworaczyk OG
Alex Hurst OT
Josh Downs DT
Chancey Aghayere DE
Chase Clement TE
Lavar Edwards DE

This is off of lsusports.net roster. I dont know if all of these guys have exhausted eligibility, but they are the ones labeled senior under class.

Already have his replacement on the team. Punting will be fine.
