Nah

I'll just kindly ask him to stop derailing threads and to stay on topic, per his own request.

You can't even stay on topic in this thread. You just want to stalk me for exposing you for the troll that you really are.

Do you have any thoughts on the OP? If not please stop derailing yet another thread.

A once proud program, now lost. Guess it's just their turn to be down.

Nebraska is the only top ten program I don't see coming back without the perfect coach at the perfect time. No natural recruiting region. No 100-plus scholarships to rebuild the roster. The walk on program isn't supported like it once was. Smaller programs can offer guys that used to walk on and develop for 3-4 years for them.

They are in the same boat as Tennessee.

Being honest, Tennessee has everything Alabama has. They just continued to hire terrible coaches for a long time. Even Fulmer was average. He's an SEC version of Mack Brown. Squandered a ton of talent. Amazing that Tennessee only has 5 SEC titles since 1970. And none since 1998.

Not enough instate recruits and it's just not cool to be a Vol anymore.

Amazing is not the right word. 5 SEC titles over nearly 5 decades is mediocre at best and makes Tennessee a team that averages a conference title once a decade going on 2 decades since their last title.

Alabama has never been at such a level over half a century.

I would actually argue that Tennessee is really taking off in terms of football talent. Particularly the Nashville area. Regardless, Alabama isn't dependent on in-state talent either. A 500 mile radius around either campus is very similar in terms of talent.

Let's not act like 1997-2006 didn't happen. Had Dubose not lucked into a SEC title in 1999, Alabama would have went 17 years being conference titles.

You have to go back 15 to 17 years to include Miami in this conversation. It's been a long time since they were relevant. The hurricanes do not participate in big games anymore. Maybe Mark Richt can change that.

While Arkansas got robbed in 1964, the fact remains they don't have a legit national title

Georgia's 1942 title is not even listed on the NCAA's web site as being recognized. Arkansas's 1964 title is recognized along with Alabama's. LINK

I agree to a point, but taking off relative to what it used to be. Mobile, Huntsville, Birmingham, and Montgomery areas all are > Nashville areas.

I disagree.

I'm not pretending or acting like it didn't happen, but even during that abysmal stretch Bama still won an SEC Championship and hasn't went 17 years without an SEC title since the 1950's if ever.

Auburn has such a high percentage because Tubs was the master in those big games. The only problem is he inevitably followed it up with a 17 point loss at home to Arkansas or something.

I mean, he won at Florida (breaking Florida's 30-game home winning streak) and then beat them again by 27 in the SEC Championship game. He went 7-1 in the SEC regular season and went 6-0 vs the SEC West. Not sure how he lucked into it. Alabama, Florida and Tennessee were clearly the 3 best teams in the league. We beat Florida twice and lost to Tennessee (a game in which our best offensive player was severely hobbled).

Do you even remember the '99 season? The sex scandal in the offseason. Losing to Louisiana Tech. A QB controversy all season. Even with the two wins over Florida, it was an improbable conference title. Especially judging by the train wreck that was his tenure.
