The value of the running back position has dropped.
TJY is certainly a high quality player who can run, catch, and block so he would be a great third down back.

He certainly will be a first day pick, but I'm not sure teams look at him as an every down back- like Eddie Lacey (second round bc Falcons liked a washed up Steven Jackson).

That being said, only one team has to want him at their first round spot.

People get wrapped up about "first round", but if you are drafted in rounds 1 through 3, you have potential to start.

And your counter arguement is your typical response. Bama backs are used to being slow to hit the LOS, because their OL were slow in developing holes. See Trent Richardson and Mark Ingrams issues in the NFL. Same issues will follow Yeldon.

Man I hope Ingram leaves the Saints. I mean really. You hate him because he played at Bama and stood on sidelines in BR cheering for Bama. You'll never admit it, but that's the truth. He was by FAR your best RB this year and would be next year if he resigns with the Saints.

He was better than an aging Pierre Thomas and a FA runningback?

It has nothing to do with Bama sorry to burst your bubble. We would jizz our collective pants if we could get Cooper in the draft. Yeldon would be a great choice as a 3rd/4th round pickup. We don't want Collins because he is a coverage liability.. and it's not like we have great CBs. Saints just need talented and dedicated players for reasonable prices.. and Ingram does not fit that bill at all. Overpaid, overweight, and not that talented.

He's a middle of the pack RB at best right now.. and we can match his productive for much less money. Anyone with a brain wants him out of NO.

Are you a psychic or is this just a wild guess?

Ingram just had his best year finishing 11th in the NFL. It doesn't sound like he's getting near retirement to anyone but you.

Logic isn't hard man. Ingram will be turning 26 next season, few NFL RBs make it into their 30s. 28 is around the average age where NFL RBs check out of the league.

Sorry you can't understand that your boy is dangerously close to being a bust. He got PAID so I don't really think he cares.

I think Trent Richardson became one of the most hated men in college athletics after his downfall. He ruined it for other RBs coming out, hoping to get drafted high - and he was a so-called "can't miss" guy.

I'd hate him too if I was first round talent, relegated to the 2nd or 3rd round.

I think Trent just quit on the game after he got that payday. He provided for his family and his hunger went out the window. I'm confident that the more stringent PED testing in the NFL had a lot to do with it too.

I do not think it had anything to do with desire or laziness. It was a product of talent. Look at Richardsons and Ingrams career in the Pros compared to the NFL. Their YAC was what made them first rounders. In the Pros, those same plays result in a one yard loss. Lacy would be in the same boat, but he has done well after contact. Yeldon and Henry will both suffer the same issues in the Pros.

huh? Ingram's and Richardson's Olines were dominant at run blocking in college.

Yeldon was very successful running the ball in 2013 and 2014 with sub par run blocking.

What kind of point are you trying to make?

I did not say they weren't, which was the problem when they got to the NFL. Their running style fit Bama's big, yet slow OL. By the time they got to the LOS, there usually was a hole to run through. In the NFL, those holes have a short life expectancy, which results in those runs of less than 1 yard for the slower backs. That is why I have said, if Yeldon and Mason had the other teams OL, neither would have been 1000 yard rushers.

Right, but the problem with your argument, is that Yeldon has had the "the other teams OL" the past two years, in the sense that you are referring to.

Tre Mason ran for 1,000 yards in 2012, with Scot Loeffler as offensive coordinator...

No, what I am saying is Yeldon hit the hole later, which allowed Bama's OL time to develop holes (but slower). Mason hit the holes quickly, which enabled AU OL to develop holes but not have to maintain them as long. That has been the main difference between the Pro Set and the HUNH Offenses.

Dude, your post are getting redundant. We get it. You don't like Alabama RBs.

Guess you can say Auburn can't put out good RBs either. Ben Tate averaged less yards per carry and less receiving yards than Trent Richardson last year.

Geez.

Dude, it is not a matter of like or dislike. Just based on facts. Read an article about how Bama's RB were overrated. The GMs just have not done their homework and take the word of the Phil Savages of the World.

He doesn't really have weakness in his game, but he doesn't really excell at anything. I see him being a third rounder and doing well in the pros because he takes fewer big hits than the other backs we have had come out.

Do you really not understand? No holes were developed most of the time. If your Oline needs "time to develop holes," there is a problem, which there has been. If you think that that somehow had something to do with Yeldon not hitting the hole fast enough, then God help you.

One was a complete bust.

One has been good when given the carries.

And one is considered one of the better RBs in the NFL.

Put down the pipe, Puppet.
