So, EVERYONE on the SEC Rant believes that Chavis is the BEST DC in college football?

They also believe that Sumlin's choice of Chavis is only because he is the best and is worth $1.7 million and not because he was most successful at stopping Sumlin?

Gotcha. I stand corrected.

First stage: you can't take Chavis from us, he's the best and he wouldn't leave LSU for A&M

Second stage: lol, you thought you could take Chavis from us, he's signing a LSU extension as we speak

Third stage: we didn't want Chavis anyway, we were ready to move on, it was all his fault we don't have a good offense.

Except I never said ANY of that. Not once. Not ever.

You are replying to other LSU fans. Not me.

I said yesterday that Chavis was very good and congratulations and that he would make A&M better. He will. It is a big loss for LSU, depending on who they hire.

I am thinking beyond that now to "why Chavis?" for Sumlin. This is a theory and I actually think that it won't have the massive effect that Sumlin thinks it will. But, whatever.

My personal position is not nearly as emotionally invested as you think it is, just because I have the LSU icon by my name.

You make some solid points. He's always been a good DC. But $1.7 mil?

That's a fair post. But if you didn't go through those stages you were one of the very few LSU fans that didn't go all in on the "no way A&M takes our awesome DC from us" narrative.
Heck I didn't think we stood a chance, your AD screwed the pooch with the wording if his contract that pissed him off.

But let's face it Chief was the best DC available after MusChump...and that is very much up for debate.

It's a huge loss for LSU if they don't get really lucky on the new hire.

Impossible.

I am only sitting here crying at my keyboard and am butthurt and whatnot.

Me questioning if he is the BEST hire that Sumlin could make for the MOST money ever spent on a DC and WHY Sumlin went after Chavis for that money can only mean one thing: I am mad and have hurt feelings.

Gotta love the SEC Rant.

Nah, statistically he will improve their defense but you're right about the late game collapses. They'll have the same love/hate relationship we did.
