No one saw Bret coming here. So there's that.

He is a good coach. Not on the level of a Saban or Meyer; but also not on the level of a Muschamp. He is pretty comparable to Chris Peterson or Gary Patterson. Does more with less. Which is exactly what Arkansas needed after Petrinogate.

I like the non-football side of BB much more than any coach we have ever had. He cleaned up or GPA issues. I think we have had 1 person arrested over the past two years (I think we one the Fulmer cup one year with Petrino); and he actually gives a crap about fans/experience. He is an upfront guy which is a breath of fresh air. All that and our team is trending better is what I like.

They're not called rantards because of their well thought out opinions.

Oh, that reminds me.

How did Aubarn and your "elite" coach finish the season last year?

Why does this thread even exist? Bret improved Arkansas from year 1 to 2 there is no denying that. We will see if he keeps it going. Is he over payed? I don't know; seems like to get a coach that has the potential to do well in a big program you pretty much have to back up the brinks truck these days. Wisconsin and Bret were both ready to move on and Arky desperately needed a proven commodity to stop the bleeding left behind from Petrino biker gate.

You aren't thinking hard enough then.

Responding to your fellow hog GoHo a few posts up now:

Yeah, Bret Beliema definitely compares to Gary Patterson and Chris Peterson.... In much the same way that Mack Brown compares to Nick Saban and Urban Meyer.

I'd heard rumors, but didn't believe them. There were no leaks and no one really had any idea who the next coach would be, save for that false report on Gundy.

So Bo Jackson is white?!?

When Iowa finally runs Kirk F off (the most well-respected, highly paid losing coach each year), I wonder if they will call Bert home. The real land of hogs

No one saw it coming. I think the sigs I pre-made were Gundy, Patterson, Peterson, and Carroll for the lulz.

Cheshire talked about Paul Chryst and liking how he ran Wisky's offense, but he said himself he never thought we could pull the man himself.

Ah... drooling over our coach again. You know, I just don't think he is that into you. Its cool, we aren't judgmental here or anything, but I think you are setting your sights too high buddy.

Some did see it coming.

Remember the melts over out next coach being in the B1G championship game and everyone thinking it was Pelini (who Tennessee was in talks with as well as with Gundy, turned down by both).

At the coach's deal in NY that year Bert met with representatives from both Arkansas and Auburn about their openings and had an offer to each.

At the same time Gus is in Jonesboro calling every acquaintance he has with influence in NWA and around the state into Long's ear, he was begging for a job that had no interest in him.

Facts and what not.
