Did anyone see it coming? We all treat it like commonplace (which it is don't get me wrong) but from what I remember, it came out of nowhere. Find it hard to believe the B1G and SEC just kind of traded coaches with good ole Urban and Bielema.

Either way I like it though. It's nice to see a stout running attack at places not named Alabama, LSU, or Auburn. Now all they got to do is pop their relevance cherry and beat the SEC's favorite juggernaut.

Bert is a very good coach and will eventually have Arkansas competing for major bowl games and division championships.

I remember being more surprised that the three time defending B1G champ left the Midwest to take a job many considered tainted by John L Smith's insanity.

People forget that Bert was 68-24 in Madison, a hard place to recruit.

Wisconsin must have some serious internal problems considering their last two football coaches have left for Oregon State and Arkansas

Most of it. But not all. I don't remember it all that much because I never looked into it.

Auburn's BOT and AD ran off Dye, Bowden, Tubbs, and Chizik and you claim Wisconsin has internal issues?

I had heard some hints a couple weeks before it was announced. Not even Wisconsin's brats and beer could keep him there. $EC dollars prevailed

You have to think Barry Alvarez played a major role in losing both of his head football coaches, neither of who was in any danger of getting fired.

Oh Bert gets more in salary, and a lot more in assistants salaries, at Arkansas but leaving the three time defending Big Ten champion... It must be an awfully toxic work environment up there. Still, their loss is our gain.

Barry Alvarez is the issue. He built that football program and likes to keep his fingers on it.

His kids love him, he demands a lot from them. He puts up with nothing regardless how well the player has performed. If you are late by 30 seconds for weight lifting, practice or meeting, he will suspend you from football and training facilities until you get the message.

Next time the coaching changes board is up, look back around the time he was hired and you will see what the Rant thought. FEAR.

Alvarez has his hands in the program the way Frank Broyles used to.
