Based on these early basketball threads, we are going to have a lot of melting this upcoming season.

Does anybody know when KenPom's preseason numbers usually come out? Has to be pretty soon.

I said maybe but find it unlikely. It's possible UK sucks this year because of too many young people (just look at our great NIT season). They've ranked UTe USC and LSU way too low

It's so weird to get that caught up on "conference ranking" like it matters. The #10 team and the #4 team could end up literally being 1 or 2 games apart. Not to mention I've asked the "who should move down" question at least 5 times the last few of these threads and I've gotten 1 response and it was lunacy.

The reaction seems to be "No we are way better than that" but then in reality you look at the teams slotted ahead of you and it's hard to make a concrete argument against it.

League is gonna be really good. Almost all of the league has realistic expectations of being in the tournament conversation. Best hope is we all go out and whip arse in the non-conference and the SEC regular season is just a Top 50 RPI slugfest.

Who should they replace above them?

The backcourt is fantastic, but guard play across the league has improved enough that it'll be harder to turn teams over as much as Arkansas likes to.

While still important, we don't rely on that as much as we use to. It is extremely hard to play that way the last few years.

Kingsley in the post and Hannahs from 3 were reliable when a bucket was needed in the halfcourt.

I think the Kingsley question is legit, we need our freshman to step up big here. I said with Hannahs, I don't think we are going to have an issue when it comes outside of the paint. I will trust Macon with that shot just as much as Hannahs.

Ya, 7 is low for what we have been seeing on tRant but I know it is all fairly close and doesn't mean shite at the moment.

Yea, and 7 vs 4 could literally be who has to play Kentucky twice and who gets Tennessee twice or something. Who has to play @ Florida and who doesn't.

The single biggest thing in the coming season is for the majority of SEC teams to go out and win big games OOC. It's more important than anything else. It will both reinforce the emerging narrative that the league is good and it will create a situation where all the league games just feed better RPIs.

My guess is these three will finish above Mississippi State ole Miss and Auburn. So I'd swap them

I'd take a permaban bet that LSU doesn't finish last in the SEC.

It seems each year we are ranked around 9 and end up around 6

Preseason rankings are meaningless, especially in basketball.

I hold no expectations. Been burned too many times when we were supposed to be good, so I'll wait and see.

Kennedy is a good coach. Terence Davis is a helluva baller.
