h now don't use me to argue with another USC fan, the regional media is a factor and a very large one but it's only one piece. The other half is the fact that a lot of your kids do get arrested, I don't know the numbers but I'd believe more than most other teams.

Didn't mean to pit you against one another. I was just trying to illustrate my point. Sorry if it came off that way.

According to an NOLA.com article last year, the 3 year unofficial totals have Mizzou and UF with more. But yes, UGA does fall in the upper tier.

Your point was that UGA players are treated unfairly by the media in ATL and given an unjust reputation. I disagree with that and also disagree that the speed in reporting automatically colors the coverage as systematically negative.

The point is Steve was silent, as expected.

Not going to keep beating a dead horse. I know what my original point was and you seem to have missed it. USC has arrests, UGA has arrests. Its what happens when you have 18-21 year old kids away from home for the first time. Its life in the SEC and college football as a whole. The kids just have to realize that they have more scrutiny on them than every normal college kid.

Georgia tech doesn't face more scrutiny and they're actually in ATL.

Georgia Tech doesn't garner a fraction of the attention in this state that they once did in the 90's. UGA is easily the money maker for the AJC sports section followed by the Braves and the Falcons. If a Tech player was arrested, it'd have to be egregious to warrant any kind of serious write-up.

How about reporting UGA players for things like traffic violations, emerging out of alleys on scooters, not providing your middle name during questioning, etc.? You can argue either way about whether the PD is after UGA players, but the AJC is quick to report anything and everything it can about UGA players. So much so that it even got Chip Towers in trouble after he jumped the gun on John Atkins having a moving violation that was a simple misunderstanding on the part of the cop.

I would think a factor to that is also that the college in question exists in a city in which law enforcement is stretched extremely thin as it is by chasing down actual hardcore law breakers. Not in a place in which the law enforcement exsists solely to police a collegiate population.

But I am sure that comment will get twisted the wrong way as well.

Not sour grapes, just don't think that it could be disproven.

Nah this is 1 incident for USC in 2 years...UGA has had 6 incidents/arrests this past 3 months.

And yet UGA players get busted for underage drinking and its a "symptom of a larger problem."

UGA players aren't getting busted for underage drnking.

Wiggins was driving on a suspended driving and reckless driving.

JHC liked the THC so he tested himself out of the program.

Then there are the 4 thugs this week who committed an actual crime and were stealing money from the school and from the banks/kwik-cash business they were trying to fraud. Especially the Lemay kid who was trying to cash other students checks.

Minors drinking is for me on par with jaywalking.

Outside of the double dipping thing, what do UGA players do that is different from any other program of 85 guys?

It's the volume of arrests incidents.

You realize the reason UGA catches so much flak for this kind of stuff is because it happens nearly every single year for UGA right?

It took all the way until page 2 for someone to point this out?

Agreed. That is what I am saying. Thank you. I was not trying to take a shot at USC. UGA players just need to be A LOT more careful because of it.

Agreed, they have a huge target on their back and everyone in law enforcement is out to get them. We should start warning the players before they even get there or commit.

Steve Spurrier has lost control of player conduct.

Almost as Na'Ty has been suspended indefinitely for just being arrested for minor in possession of alcohol, 4 UGA players are at practice following their arrest for stealing money from the school and bank using fraud and deception.

...but hey, some schools are stricter on their players than others and hold them to higher standards.

Nobody is twisting your original comment. Just calling you out for not acknowledging that UGA's volume of arrests is the main reason UGA has a reputation, not the coverage of UGA arrests

ok, I'm done.

This thread still won't get a sticky though, that's reserved for things that people care about or come up often enough to warrant it.

In the past 5 years, USC's FB program has only had 4 reported arrests...

UGA's FB program has had 174 in the same time frame. It's a statistical fact...
