You realize the reason UGA catches so much flak for this kind of stuff is because it happens nearly every single year for UGA right?

Yes but Georgia has a history of having more players arrested or at least there's that perception. You're also closer to Atlanta which has more media and media with a wider reach than Columbia or Lexington for example. It isn't hard to figure out.

Not even close to the point. Yes, UGA has these every year. If Stephen Garcia was still at USC, so would they. Its not what I am getting at. When things like this come to light it just get handled differently; I really don't think its even debatable.

Agreed. That is what I am saying. Thank you. I was not trying to take a shot at USC. UGA players just need to be A LOT more careful because of it.

Can some of you not discuss a topic without flaming?

My point is UGA players have got to be more careful with their arrests than all other schools within the conference. That is it.

I'll never understand why some UGA fans don't realize that their players built and sustain the reputation for arrests, not the media.

What's the difference between a minute and 3 hours when it comes to reporting? UGA players aren't treated more harshly, we had a player get arrested for Jay walking in 5 points for Christs sake.

UGA has more arrests, gets more coverage because of it and builds and reputAtion for getting arrested. It's really only complicated if you're trying to make excuses.

Sure. If that is the only substance you can provide, so be it. You have tried to get a response for the same post 3 times. So here you go.

So being the regional team for a media market that is one of the largest in the country has absolutely nothing to do with it? KSG, even thinks its a pretty big factor.

Ah now don't use me to argue with another USC fan, the regional media is a factor and a very large one but it's only one piece. The other half is the fact that a lot of your kids do get arrested, I don't know the numbers but I'd believe more than most other teams.

If you have numbers that refute that then point them out to me and I'll change my opinion but until then I have to think that's also a huge portion of it.

I think the point is that The State probably doesn't put their interns on Columbia lock-up watch specifically to make stories out of athlete arrests. Meanwhile, the AJC devotes manpower to actually scan the Athens lock-up records and races to be the first to report any wrongdoing. I found out about the 4 guys at UGA before I went to bed at 10 the night they were arrested. That's a reaction time of under 2 hours for guys that had to be picked up around 8PM and driven to the county jail for booking. It's not that I necessarily blame the AJC for doing (hell, in this newspaper climate it's just good business; god knows it brings the page views). But I think the point of the OP is that UGA has next to no room for error relative to other programs (it's nearly impossible to handle things internally without widespread scrutiny that we don't discipline guys).

Maybe the speed in which it's reported. But that's it.

Georgia tech doesn't face more scrutiny and they're actually in ATL.

And that is the crux of my original point. That is all. Not bring up how many or what kind of arrests. Read my OP, and this was my point. Rodgers didn't do anything that required any media attention brought to it. He is a college kid that has a right to have some fun. But, so are UGA kids, but they get crucified for a similar instance before actual facts are revealed.
