Some say promote our DC Arnett to HC for a year and reassess. Now he has proven to be a great DC but is only 36 years old with only 4 years as a coordinator.

I believe Leach assembled a great staff and I am 100% keeping them together. Hire Arnett and bring someone in as an administrative associate HC who has the experience to advise and handle certain things. Jackie is still around, not sure how involved he would want to be. Also a few other options around. I’m not talking a decision maker but an advisor. Old man Spurrier might even be an option.

We need a good Christian man like Gus Bus to come bring us stability.

That would actually be a solid hire

Yep. And with the Coach Leach connections, it just make sense.

Arnett with a performance based contract and no big buyout?

Think you would need a new AD in place if you wanted a new person.

Holgerson would be a solid hire. If we don’t promote Arnett that would be my top choice

Again, I think you roll with Arnett unless a big name reaches out and shows interest.

Here are three possible names that I would at least have a discussion if they were interested.

1. Shane Beamer. He was who I wanted when we hired Leach. His wife is from Starkville and he has shown that he is a coach on the rise.

2. Dana Holgorson. Current Houston coach.

3. Chris Hatcher. Samford coach. Air Raid disciple. He would definitely take it but it would be a debate between him and Arnett. May be able to pay him enough to be the OC. Arnett with Hatcher as OC would be best possible scenario, in my opinion.

I think the hire that will be made is offensive coordinator.

Hatcher, Sonny Combie (Texas Tech OC), Graham Harrell (West Virginia OC), Phil Longo (Wisconsin OC, formerly at Ole Miss).

I'm disturbed by the amount of y'all that think Dana H would be a good hire.

Let arnett try.

Give him a million dollar raise to be CEO.

No real pressure given how this has all happened so suddenly

I would think we are close to announcing an AD. Had to be down to the final interviews anyways.

I don't know whether Arnett even wants to be the HC.

All but the one that took him right out of town

Not to mention how toxic the egg bowl will get with him and Kiffin

I don't get the interim coach idea. All that is going to do is cause our players to enter the portal and put us a year behind in recruiting. Would you go somewhere with an interim coach? I wouldn't. I am not the type that would transfer, but if I had a choice of going somewhere where I know who the coach is or staying somewhere where the coaches status is going to be a point of conversation for a year, I know what I am going to do.

Joe Judge or an air-raid disciple.

i would prefer someone young and from the ML coaching tree or someone with direct lines to that tree.

kendal briles would be a good one IMO.

Why? He had a solid stint at WV and went 12-2 last season at Houston.

Also he looks like a Mississippi State coach

I agree. Can’t do a one year interim with the transfer portal rules now.

If it’s Arnett then you have to commit to him fully and let it play out

In this day of the portal/NIL, an interim will destroy the program. Everyone is nice today and will take every player we have tomorrow. Just the way it is.
