LSU's AD has done nothing so far to give LSU fans any faith in his competency. So far he has:

-ran off Chavis with a stupid contract provision (that he later walked back) in 2014

-couldn't properly fire Miles last year when needed (and had to walk it back) in 2015

-hired a joke of a men's basketball coach in 2012

And yet is trusted by thousands of Tiger fans to pry Herman away from Houston, a task that more talented ADs have failed at doing?

It seems to me LSU fans are getting ahead of themselves. If they want to replace Les with a head coach that doesn't make us all snicker is seems like "Fire Joe" needs to be step 1.

And yet every thread is Herman Herman Herman. It's like they learned nothing from last year and all the promises that "Les is for sure gone."

Chavis is trash. He did an excellent job handling that situation.

I would say F King Alexander is more hated.

Speaking as an LSU fan, we hate Alleva and we absolutely don't trust his judgment.

We want he and President F King Alexander out. Unfortunately, nobody asked us when they were hired.

LSU needs to go further than that. F. King Alexander is a disaster as University President. Before Mark Emmert and Nick Saban arrived, LSU was hampered by "Good Ole Boy" politics from its Board of Supervisors. Emmert and Saban ran them off for a while and the results were obvious. Unfortunately, since they've departed, it's taken root again.

Not even close.

An "excellent job" if LSU really wanted Chavis gone would have been to NOT offer him an insulting contract and instead line up a proper replacement THAT YEAR.

What Joe did was insult Chavis via the contract, have to walk it back because Les was pissed off that he did that, still ended up losing Chavis and then took a WHOLE YEAR (aka a wasted season) to replace Chavis with a DC that we all don't make fun of.

The equivalent would be Joe insulting Les this year via a insulting tweet, hiring a retread mid-major coach (think Nebraska) as a replacement when Les has some personal pride and "retires," and the going "Oh shite" and then firing that joker and hiring a half decent up-and-coming coach when the fans revolt next year.

In none of that does Herman go to LSU. It would take a really smooth ship to get Herman to sail that way, and LSU lacks such a ship.

Every LSU fan I know in real life (which is a lot as I was born in NOLA) expects Tom Herman as a replacement.

This forum is just a sample of the bigger delusion.

Alleva has wanted Miles out since September 2014. That's why they didn't work hard to keep Chavis.

Because LSU fans are obviously delusional when it comes to their AD. I can dig up a quote from almost every major LSU poster on here 100% expecting Les to be gone last season so it isn't some fringe element. LSU fans have expectations not based in the current reality where Joe runs the LSU AD.

Us Aggies are just concerned, as we have a component AD that hails from LSU. It's a wonder y'all can't find a better choice than Joe among your flock.

Look, just because you have ties to LA and know how lsufan's mind works ( ), DOESN'T mean you need to eviscerate them on here like this

For shame.

Exactly the kind of incompetence I was talking about.

Joe wanted Les gone, so he took it out on Chavis. But he didn't have the leverage to take it out on Chavis, so soon Les forced him to offer Chavis an even better deal:

quote:

Les Miles offered John Chavis a three-year deal worth $5.4 million last year to remain as LSU's defensive coordinator, according to a report from The Advocate, but Chavis turned it down to go to Texas A&M.

The clause with which Chavis was upset would have allowed LSU to terminate his contract in the event that Miles was no longer there.

LINK

That is pure incompetence, no other way to spin it. If Joe is in charge of hiring who replaces Les he will give Tom an offer after Baylor has already announces him as a new head coach, you watch.

He is still on the hot seat too but what has floated his stock is that enough stories have leaked from different sources that he had Jimbo Fisher in hand ready to sign but the Governor and the System Pres got weak kneed at the size of the deal and the impending budget issues and backed out.
