It certainly worked for Bama in 2011.

The rest of the country would be pissed. It is an interesting hypothetical. If Bama ends up 12-1 and the SEC champ and LSU is 11-1 with it's only loss to the #2 team in the final 4, how far can you really drop them? It would even have potential for an LSU vs Bama National Championship rematch.

Bama would be #1 and Lsu should be top 4 in that case. I don't give a frick what everyone else thinks, 4 best teams regardless should be in the cfpo.

And here's where the mcneese game hurts now. LSU would be 10-1 with a 3 pt loss to Bama vs 11-1 Big 12 champion. 1 less win to evaluate.

The sec rant operates simultaneously with the opinions that 1) if LSU fans think they will beat bama, they are idiots and their cockiness will bleed into the locker room and b) if LSU fans discuss scenarios that include LSU losing to Bama, we are scared and already making excuses.

I seriously wonder if some of you realize how ignorant you are.

Carry on.

I highly doubt the selection committee is going to discredit LSU not playing a 12th game the first week of the year vs McNeese State. Especially if the only loss is a respectable one at that.

To the poster above you...Alabama will not be #1 with 1-loss if Clemson stays undefeated. Clemson will have an impressive resume and no blemishes.

to your 1st statement, I hope you're right. If not if I were Les Miles I would personally show up on ESPN and complain. Hypothetically, lets say Bama beats LSU by a field goal. Hypothetically, lets say LSU beats OLE MISS at their home and wins out(the team that beat Bama at their place)

Alabama 12-1 SEC champs, LSU 10-1 with their only loss to Alabama in their place and they have a heisman running back and beat the team that beat Bama.

There'd be LITERALLY no reason to not include LSU as #4. It would be the biggest travesty ever considering Alabama snuck in losing by a field goal to LSU in 2011 and considering alabama lost at HOME that year...LSU would be losing AWAY this year.

I would literally quit watching football if this scenario played out and LSU wasn't #4.

What people may be starting to figure out is that this committee is capable of evaluating each win or loss subjectively. For example, some people think that Bama's Georgia win is looking less impressive, but they forget that Chubb was perfectly healthy. The committee doesn't forget that. They may also devalue Michigan State's win over Michigan given the way they won. If Alabama wins a tight game over LSU, they may very well drop no farther than four. If somehow Alabama wins by 17 or more, and LSU looks bad in the process, they could fall farther, depending on what 5, 6, and 7 do.

you say that now, but Alabama got the benefit of the doubt in 2011 and got the benefit of the doubt today. Watch LSU not get the benefit of the doubt if the same scenario plays out.

If they DO get the benefit of the doubt in the double 1 loss LSU/Alabama scenario then I would make it my sig and I'd never bash the media for bama bias or anything ever again.

LSU and Bama both need to win the conference. If you don't win your conference you don't deserve to be in. LSU needs to beat Bama Saturday. No way the committee lets 2 SEC teams in.

I'd be cool with that... as long as Les Miles appears on Gameday before the SECCG.

You're not wrong. So let me ask you this. Lets say Bama wins by a field goal saturday in an epic game. LSU beats ole miss/arkansas/texas a&m convincingly. Alabama wins out. Clemson wins out. Ohio State wins out. Big 12 has a 1 loss Baylor champion (loss is to Oklahoma). Who is #4? (#1 Alabama #2 Clemson #3 Ohio State #4 ____________?)

The selection committee just validates that game as well. Not only did 2011 Oklahoma State have a shitty loss, they didn't play a conference championship game either. If you apply todays logic to that situation, Ok State isn't getting into that championship game no matter what.

LSU fan's just hang their hat on that because we would have done to Ok State what Alabama did to us.

11-1 LSU with close loss to 12-1 Bama would deserve a spot over all 11-1 Big 12 Co Champions if that's how it plays out.

Based on what?

Based on their only loss coming to the undisputed #1 team in their home by a field goal, and trouncing all other opposition and beating the SEC East champs and having the heisman player. And beating the team that beat the #1 team. It would be a stronger SOS by a slight margin than a 1 loss Big 12 champ.

Edit: In fact, what guarantees LSU a spot at #4 over 1 loss big 12 is the fact that LSU would have also defeated the SEC east champs, same as Alabama.
