As an analyst, Sarkisian can watch film of games and practice and provide input on the overall direction of the team, including the game plan. He is, however, not allowed to have a hands-on coaching role, interacting with players on the football field.
He is not allowed to :
(b) Makes or assists in making tactical decisions related to the sport during on-court or on-field practice or competition
Would making a suggestion about the second half game plan be allowed versus calling or suggesting specific play call?

My guess is it'd be something towards the program and reducing the off-field staff or something along those lines, and it would 100% lead to stricter rules on non-on field coaches (which will probably happen soon anyway).
shite, it can do nothing but help your program to have a different set of eyes on the field analyzing the execution and productivity. We are ALL rich, just load up on 'em.

So the question is, if Sark is not on the field, has he participated in "on field activities", and if all he does is pass along information, has he "assisted in making tactical decisions"?
Are you trying to argue that Sark could call the plays from his couch and he wouldn't be counted as a coach?

Good question.
I've always wondered if CFB has groups or consulting firms writing white papers on the interpretation of guidelines and rules. For instance, when the FASB releases a new Accounting Standard our firm generally has experts review and release interpretations of the ruling with examples, application, etc.
Somebody has to do this for college sports, right? Does each school have a person who does this?

Sark is in the booth for Bama FWIW.

Meh, the NCAA can make another Saban rule. They're due for another one.

Every college program has an astounding number of support staff, allot of these staffers are responsible for analyzing what they are seeing and reporting to their superior. In this case Sark. To Kiffen. I'm confident that he has influenced half time decisions in not just the Auburn game but in all of them. The same happens at every game around the country.

What are the repercussions for a violation of that kind?
Death Penalty, I knew we couldn't trust this Sark guy.

I can't help but envision this scenario like Vince and his Dad from Friday Night Lights where the coaching is standing in front of them, turns to the booster, and says, "If you see Vince and his Dad let him know..." to get around the no contact rule.

Analysts cant be involved in any decisions during a game. Rules are pretty clear
These rules don't apply to Bama... like when they had like three over the limit personnel in the coaches box that were there for stealing signs. Their excuse was that they were just runners etc. Did not know runners needed binoculars.
Funny that after their hand was called on that they quit doing it...

It's pretty well known that refs take your advice during games , and that is a clear violation.

What violation? We're Bama, we do what we want. You of all people should know this.
In all seriousness, maybe Sark had presented suggestions for the game plan during preparation that had largely been ignored in the first half and Saban enforced those after the break. That to me is just as probable, if not moreso, than Sark drawing things up on the grease board at halftime.

Obviously not
Otherwise there wouldn't be such a disparity in discretionary penalties in favor of Bama instead of LSU
Honestly I'm impressed by Sabans mafia-like grip on CFB. He really is the GOAT.
