When Saban asked where Smith wanted to go to school, Smith named a few, and Saban told him he would not release him to any SEC schools. Smith then received a “permission to contact” form. Three days after that, an unidentified Alabama staffer told Smith that he could no longer work out at the athletic facility. Three days after that, Smith was told that another staffer advised him he was no longer allowed at the athletic facility “to workout, to eat, or anything.” “Although I had done nothing wrong, I basically was ostracized from the team and felt I was being forced to make a decision to transfer,” Smith wrote.
Sounds like he wanted to have his cake and eat it too. He tells Saban he is transferring but then still wants to hang out at the athletic facilities, eat training meals with the team, work out, keep his stuff in a locker, and hang out with the players. No one forced him to transfer. He was a starting corner. He decided to transfer. It's a well known rule that you can't transfer to another SEC school unless the HC approves. He can go to Miami or anywhere else. Just not UGA or an SEC school.

So they shouldn't have reported how alabama treated him like shite the moment he expressed interest in leaving?
I'd like to hear both sides of the story.
If we knowingly trashed a bunch of sentimental, ahem, "papers" and whatnot of his, then I think that is not cool.
But if he quit the team, and was told to clean out his locker, and didn't, then what is the big deal?

Don't believe for a second any of our folks threw his stuff in the trash.
Sounds like total BS, trying to whip up the media so CNS will let him go to Jawja.
That's not going to work.

I have no problem with Alabama denying his waiver to play, but throwing his shite away is childish. Box up his stuff and tell him to come pick it all up.

You'd like that, wouldn't you?

PRetty much. If they threw his stuff in the trash, that's pretty bad. Just throw it in a box and put it outside the locker for him to come pick up.

Forced to make a decision? You told the head coach you wanted to transfer. And you felt ostracized from the team because guess what? You were no longer part of the team.

So he informs the team of his wanting to transfer, then is surprised they dont want him in the facilities....???
Exactly. I'm gonna try quitting my job and telling them I am leaving to go to a competitor....but I still want them to keep paying me, and keep my benefits, and I want to keep hanging out with all the employees on site, and I want to keep my office with all my stuff in it for as long as I want.

Yeah. I'd like to see proof of this. His pictures aren't proof either.
Like to hear from the staffer.
He was already emotional. It's totally believable that he embellished that part.
If that happened, that's really the only part I have a problem with. Alabama did everything else correctly.
Pretty sure his stuff was just boxed up though.

So? You don't throw it away less than a day later. Like I said, you box it up for them and tell them to pick it up, like a fricking grown up.

Of course you don't.
