There was no point in pissing on the guy after he did what he was supposed to do for 3 years. He worked hard enough to graduate in 3 yrs, stayed out of trouble and contributed to the team. While I agree with Saban not giving him a clean waiver to play immediately for Kirby/Mel, the whole locker thing was in poor taste.

I mostly agree, though I do think it is shitty of Smith to wait until after spring practice to inform them of his transfer wishes. Doesn't justify the way they allegedly treated him, but neither side appears to have handled this very well, IMO.
