So he informs the team of his wanting to transfer, then is surprised they dont want him in the facilities....???

Exactly. I'm gonna try quitting my job and telling them I am leaving to go to a competitor....but I still want them to keep paying me, and keep my benefits, and I want to keep hanging out with all the employees on site, and I want to keep my office with all my stuff in it for as long as I want.

It's obvious that some of these clowns posting on this thread have never worked a day in their lives.

Funny. I've learned that throwing other people's belongings in the trash makes you look like an a-hole.

Saban also is blocking Smith's transfer to UGA according to his mom.

Saban will allow him to go to UGA, no problem. The SEC won't allow him to play immediately, he'll have to sit a year or transfer to another of the +100 D1 programs.

Probably the same ones that complain about coddling entitled kids and raising them to be pussies.

Exactly. This site is nothing but kids these days though, so not surprising.

It was a bunch of fricking pieces of paper. Just print out the same pieces of paper, and they'll be nice and new compared to smelling like a locker room.

Same. Friggin AT&T threw away a bunch of my Far Side cartoons hanging on the wall of my cubicle.

When Saban asked where Smith wanted to go to school, Smith named a few, and Saban told him he would not release him to any SEC schools. Smith then received a “permission to contact” form. Three days after that, an unidentified Alabama staffer told Smith that he could no longer work out at the athletic facility. Three days after that, Smith was told that another staffer advised him he was no longer allowed at the athletic facility “to workout, to eat, or anything.” “Although I had done nothing wrong, I basically was ostracized from the team and felt I was being forced to make a decision to transfer,” Smith wrote.

Jesus.

This kid thought he could continue business as usual for days on end after telling the most heartless coach in the history of organized sports that he wanted to transfer?

Not too bright.

He was granted permission to transfer to Miami.

"If you don't want to go to Miami we can renew your scholarship here at Alabama (which is a pretty kind thing to do). But you're not getting permission to go to UGA."

He refuses Alabama's scholarship renewel. He refuses Miami transfer. So he's basically some random guy using the athletic facility who refuses to leave. Hence "Bro, you're not on scholarship here and chose not to be a part of this team. We can't let you continue to use our facilities."
He has many, many choices including but not limited to getting a job with that degree he's about to receive in 3 days.

It was not "just" pieces of paper. Read the article before spouting off.

It wasn't family photos, it was pictures of him with his cat.

So Saban is just now being accused of being a "dick", right? He wasn't accused of it in 2008 or 2009?
Lets look at the recruiting rankings again this year and see how bad he's been bitten.

I read the article bro.

The only thing he actually identified were things made of paper.

Now that this episode has gone public, there isn't a snowballs chance in August that Saban will circumvent the SEC rule already in place.

Let your employer throw away your family photos, diploma and memorabilia from a deceased friend. I mean, it's all meaningless because it's made of paper.

You're a moron.

He had ample time after he inquired about the transfer to collect his stuff. When he didn't, he gave up his rights to complain about what happened to it. It's pretty simple.
