Explain how a forty time doesn't show quickness, and burst ?

Burst is show the first ten-fifteen yards.

Quickness is different from speed. Quickness is more relative to shiftiness. Being able to shake off a block is better for a LB than running 4.45 in forty yard sprints.

And they take splits within the 40.

LB Hightower could only put up a 4.62

Is that official or unofficial?

If official, then Hightower just snuck his way into the first round (maybe the 20's). I don't think he plays, with pads on, at 4.62 speed, but we at least see he has some speed now. I've always questioned his speed with pads.

You may question it, but I bet you have never beaten him to the edge. Hightower is so good that he played on one leg last year and is just now getting his knee well. He will go in the first round and may be the first inside LB chosen.

Not when he is expected to cover a back out of the backfield on a wheel route or the TE on a deep route down the middle. Then you have to be able to move your arse!!!

I'll take a 4.62 LB that weighs 265.

Players like Chris Johnson. Champ Bailey. Randy Moss. Patrick Willis. Players that don't just have track speed, but also football field speed.

Watching Hightower on film and in highlights certainly doesn't look like he's running a 4.62, unless he's jogging a lot of the time. Damn, y'all get so fricking sensitive. So what if I called him slow? I also said he should get jumped in the 20 range. Go change your tampon and chill out.

So much fail. Thanks for the laugh.

When you get done laughing, tell my how I'm wrong.

November 5:

First Downs
Alabama: 17
LSU: 15

Total Yards (Also used as defensive statistic)
Alabama: 295
LSU: 239

Total Plays
Alabama: 60
LSU: 58

Avg. Yards per play
Alabama: 4.9
LSU: 4.1

Time of Possession:
Alabama: 30:06
LSU: 29:54

Punts
Alabama: 2
LSU: 6

Alabama outperformed LSU in every facet of the game - except field goal kicking. Our offense sustained longer drives and punted only twice all night. Our defense was also dominant, as usual. We even had fewer penalties than LSU.

The outcome of the football game did not match at all the way the game was played.

I think his lateral speed is not that great...which sucks, because before his injury, his lateral speed was great. Its still good, but it is what will keep him out of the first round, IMO.

That may be it. In the 2010 Iron Bowl, we forced him to match-up with McCalleb out of the back-field and OMAC was just jogging as he was leaving Hightower in the dust. Granted, it was OMAC, but it didn't even look like Hightower was even trying to catch him. I noticed that a lot with Hightower...

I still think he goes 1st round now. He sold someone. I kind of wish Denver was still in the 3-4 so we could grab him.

so you're saying that Chris Johnson and Champ Bailey run the same exact speed in shorts as they do with 15 pounds of pads on?

He put on a lot of weight after tearing his ACL injury. He slimmed down before this season started.

ETA: Also, if i'm not mistaking he had a bunch of braces on his leg in '10 and this year not so much.

Keep in mind that he was still really getting over his injury in '10, but yeah, not too many LBs are going to be able to keep up with OMac.

It's pretty damn close. Have you seen them run? Champ Bailey is damn near 40 years old and can still truck it with pads on. Again, you're not getting what I'm saying. There's a difference between track speed and football speed. I haven't seen Hightower show his football speed that is similar to 4.62.

That's true, and honestly I don't think you ever really recover from an ACL tear. That's not his fault, it's just the way that type of injury is. I'd hope that he doesn't injure another one.
