I think we can safely say that Baton Rouge would be 13th or 14th in the SEC on this list. We have tons of great food in south Louisiana, but pretty much no BBQ sadly.
We prefer Jambalaya, Sauce picante, Crawfish Ettouffe, Shrip Creole, etc. BBQ is good, but Cajun Food is mmmmmmmmm

Petty's in Starkville beats the shite out of any Sonny's I've ever been in.
A. This is a true statement.
B. Petty's is also shite. The Little Dooey, Grumpy's, and Three Little Pigs all blow it out of the water.
Even the sides at The Little Dooey are phenomenal. The BBQ baked beans and fried eggplant are insane.

You shut that blasphemy up, you might have Cajun knockoff, but you do not have genuine Cajun cuisine

No Memphis, and a NC town as #1. List is bogus. It would be more believable if they said Ole Miss would win the SEC in football this year

We have our very own coonass... Mr. Hebert smells like corn dogs and only serves the real deal. I have to make my own in Dallas and order off Cajun grocery.

Just cause he is a coonass don't mean he cooks the same as most Cajuns. Trust me, there are only 1000 different ways to cook Cajun food. I prefer to cook my own BBQ, while having a few cold ones. If I have to eat out, I generally stick with Seafood or Italian.

on't try and convince me Gates or A. Bryants are world class.
They aren't - they are popular because they are cheap and fast (and old). A Bryant's is ok, but Gates is awful quality meat.
Locals do not go to these places for quality BBQ.

1. Memphis has the best BBQ
2. Kansas City has the second best BBQ
The rest are far behind these two cities.

Are people that keep mentioning Memphis and KC just not bothering to read the methodology of the ranking? The ranking clearly mentions not including the traditional BBQ hotspots everyone is mentioning. They are ranking the best off the radar lesser known BBQ hotspots. Dreamland isn't the only Ttown BBQ export either. Moe's Original BBQ is a popular Ttown chain with a couple of AL locations and a Colorado location and Archibald's is the best local place in town.

Is this a joke? No Memphis? has to be a joke

I've seen locals at both places. I thought KC Masterpiece was better than both.
What is the best BBQ in KC? In my experience, KC has better steak than BBQ. Love the steak down at the stockyards (don't remember the names).

Best BBQ in kc has gotta be either LC's or Oklahoma joes (even though it's owned by a jayhawk). Bourdain named OK joes as one of his 10 places to eat before you die, and it's located in a gas station.
Or if you're looking for a little bit higher class with waiters and sit down restaurant jack stack is the place to go, their ribs are fire and I think they probably have the best baked beans I've had in my entire life, they put burnt ends in the beans as well. If you ever come back to kc try out these places and maybe it'll change your opinion of kc BBQ.

I think its pretty obvious no one in here actually read the article.

I have three new places in KC to try now. I am tempted to drive up tomorrow, but I think I'll go see Dark Knight instead.

maybe so, but it ain't bar-b-q. Bar-b-q = pork and chicken with a molasses based sauce. Anything else is just personal preference for cookin'.

I always think these debates are silly. It's food. Most food tastes pretty good, and all bbq is good. Some a little better than others, but I mean for the most part the best bbq in the world isn't going to be good if it is over cooked. Hell I know a guy from Louisiana that puts Pepsi in his bbq, and it is pretty good.
I will say, shamefully, that my favorite bbq place is Vans in Norman, Oklahoma.

We've been doing beef BBQ in texas since the Spaniards brought over cattle... Before smokers, we used pits in the ground. For pork, we get a lot of mexican influences like conchita pibil, barbacoa and pork al pastor. Smoking meat ain't unique to the South East.
If it is pig or cow cooked right, it is good.
