This reminds me of LSU and Alabama in2011. Two very good defenses. now if both teams can keep it up.

I have no problem with being a close second to Alabama in something right now.

I was noticing that as well over on cfbstats.com

Interestingly, Alabama's numbers are BETTER in P5 play than in non-P5 play.

In SEC Play:
Scoring Defense:
Alabama & UGA both at 1.5 points per game (darn field goals)

Rushing Defense:
1. Alabama - 64 ypg
3. Georgia - 119.5 ypg

Passing Defense:
1. Georgia - 91.5 ypg & 59.59 pass rating
2. Alabama - 101.5 ypg & 62.85 pass rating

Total Defense:
1. Alabama - 165.5 ypg
2. Georgia - 211 ypg
FYI - 3. Auburn has 345 ypg

Overall:
Scoring Defense:
1. Alabama 8.6
2. Georgia 9.2

Rushing Defense:
1. Alabama 73.8 ypg
3. Georgia 90.4 ypg

Passing Defense:
4. Georgia 153.6 ypg
6. Alabama 175.2 ypg

Pass Rating Defense (combined above because the rankings were identical between rating and ypg):
1. Georgia 95.78
2. Alabama 96.79
(The two teams combined have given up 6 TDs and gotten 12 INTs)

Total Defense:
1. Georgia 244 ypg
2. Alabama 249 ypg

That UGA pass rush is something fierce.

My guess is it's some combination of yards per play, points per play/drive, and explosive plays. Total guess on my part.

Kirby has that defense dialed in. They look like Bama. They tackle in space like Bama. I'd be pretty pleased if I were a UGA fan.

If there is one UGA fan that is unhappy about the way our defense has played so far, they need to be dragged into the street and beaten with blunt objects.

Stop the presses! A guy that worked under Saban for almost 10 years has his team looking almost identical to Saban's

Most of the defensive coaches at Georgia worked for Saban at some point.

Kirby was smart enough to copy a proven system down to the small details it seems. He implemented some of the stuff himself, while at Bama, so it makes sense. I'm happy to see Georgia looking dominant. Better for the conference

Imagine how much better those stats would look if you exclude the 4th quarter.

Ask a Tennessee fan though and they'll say that we should not have fired a 9-3 Richt.

UGA's linebackers are fast as hell. Reminds me of past Bama defenses.

Glad to see Kirby get things going

^^This.

A lot of people also don't realize that the 10 points UGA gave up to App State were all in the 4th quarter against the 3 and 4 teamers (some 2nd teamers in there too, but not many) and those points were off of 2 Brice Ramsey interceptions.
