Butler Field. I can't even........

This thread makes me sad/ angry. Why can't we have nice things. LSU's band hall was really nice, and Auburn's is going to be amazing once it's finished. We're the only band in the SEC to not have a band room, and it's sad, especially since we're almost 102 years old.

One of the reasons why the MDB practiced at LSU's field was to show off their facilities to Alabama's powers that be. We had several alumni ride with the band to Texas. That never happens. So to the rest of the SEC, keep up the good work. It hurts my pride to do this, but if I have to compare us to LSU and AU, and actually show how their better than us, than so be it. Maybe someone will listen.

I always thought they used the indoor football building when the weather is bad. It has the field lines.

Yeah, I should have thought of that. Completely slipped my mind.

Is there a space big enough for the band to practice in? Or do they use Coleman for that?

No and no. We have sectionals in Moody, but not full rehearsals there. We use the football practice facility sometimes if it's raining, or if our bowl game is inside.

Also very few bands actually practice inside, even if they have a band hall. It wouldn't sound right, especially for the bigger bands like LSU and Auburn. Also it would be a VERY tight fit.

TigersOfGeaulxled are you in LSU's band as well? I've meet a few members of TGBFTL in Duluth last month. Overall a nice group of people.

Yeah, if we need to go inside, the athletics department will usually let us use the indoor practice facility

I hear ya about the tight fit, but our practice hall was designed with those kind of acoustics involved...

...and to my knowledge, they regularly practice in there.

UGA manages to fit the entire band (minus...pit / auxillaries, I believe) - so around ~350 ish in our largest band room. It is definitely a tight fit and requires a very systematic way of entering an exiting. It's also...unbearably loud in such a room.

Here's what it looks like: LINK

so The Golden Band From Tigerland needs a place that the whole band can fit into at once.

Thread hijack... your band hall is bigger than UGA's indoor practice facility for football? That's crazy.

Yeah, the first thing I did when watching that video was look at the ceiling for the acoustic absorbing tiles...

I bet their ears were ringing after that.

I really don't know. Moody is a big building (over 100,000 sq ft), but I don't know how it's used in relation to the marching band. Here's a few more pics. It's a concert hall but it has a few large rooms in it that could be used for practice.

There's a lot acoustic tiling everywhere in that room, but it can only do so much when you're dealing with that number of musicians.
