It's like all of the voters just looked at every team's record and nothing else.

These rankings suck.

This may be true, but in this case, Jed isn't wrong.

Tennessee has a much better resume than Arkansas at this point. Arkansas didn't do themselves any favors by playing seven 200+ RPI teams.

This is the most obvious thing about this. Who the frick was picked to do these rankings.

Nobody could accurately say anything about what would happen in conference play. It's early and teams will adjust

Okay, but they seemed to take the approach of punishing teams who played difficult schedules and giving the benefit of the doubt to the teams who didn't.

Possibly so but you get what you ask for..I've watched a good amount of Bama and to say they're that much better than the teams ranked in front of them is inaccurate.

Looks like KenPom was right about Mizzou.

They're a lot better than Auburn and MSU.

They already beat one team in front of them

They are easily better than or about the same as almost half of the teams in front of them, maybe more.

Besides I wasn't event talking about Alabama.

No. KenPom has UGA higher than most other systems already.

The way things are going, the SEC might only get 3 bids again. UF, UK, and UT are the only teams I feel comfortable about at this point.

If we only pulled off some of those close games in the out of conference part of the schedule

Well conference play is definitely sorting it out.

That said, if UK doesn't watch their asses this weekend at Vandy they'll lose.

Power rankings = how good teams actually are, not wins v loses.

If Bama was 7-7 and got drubbed in all their loses I might agree, but every loss has been a possible win in the last 2 minutes except for 1 game.

Not saying this team is world beaters, but they a definitely top 6 in the SEC.

Ranking Arkansas anywhere near the top 5 before we saw them play a single road game seemed like a stretch

They were ranked highly in KenPom before conference play started? Or when the season ended? When there's more data points? Like I was pointing out? You fricking moron?

The problem is that there's UF, UK, UT (lately), and a bunch of meh.

Who would you rank 4th? A Mizzou team who just lost to UGA at home? An Arkansas team who is absolutely inept on the road? An LSU team who just lost to URI and was blown out at home by UT? An Ole Miss team who lost to Mercer? Or a 7-7 Bama team?

Mizzou
LSU
Bama
Ole Miss

I think Ole Miss is 4th of that bunch but the other 3 could go in any order. Mizzou and Bama are kind of tough to judge because of how different their OOC schedules were.

I'm not including Arkansas, because I don't even know how to separate their home/road performances. I've never seen anything like it.
