The greed and arrogance of Texas screwed them right along with Mack getting complacent and lazy. Coupled with that political infighting that went on between alums, the president and AD. It was just a terrible mess when there was a fighting faction over pushing Mack out. Those dumbasses should have joined the SEC with A&M. Now look at A&M getting the better players and doing some winning. Alabama has a way of ripping a fan bases heart out. However, that UT program did not get up off the mat and dust themselves off. Mack went from recruiting spread players to wanting to ground and pound after that game. Stupid! Colt might have kept it closer, he was a fierce competitor, but ultimately I think Bama would have won. But yes indeed the arrogance and greed of Texas has put a bad taste in a lot of college fans all across the country. Mack Brown really acted like a dumbass towards the end of his stint there.

Agsessed.

No mention of TAMU anywhere in this thread, until TAMU was brought up by ... hold on here ... an LSU fan. Imagine that.

Theres a pretty good chance Colt would have made a difference. It was still a close game and TX had a horrible QB out there.

This is an actual example of dickriding. Props to Aggy for for dickriding Bama, the team that did what they couldn't.
Some Tigers just cannot seem to help themselves. Anything TAMU-related is like catnip for the kitties. They just go nuts.

No, because Bama would have lost by 50 if Colt McCoy hadn't suffered that horrific career ending bruise on his shoulder pads.......
They probably shouldn't have run the read option straight at Dareus then.

Most ignorant statement ever. The 2001 team might be the greatest Miami team ever.

Portis
Shockey
Andre Johnson
Bryant McKinnie
DJ Williams
Vilma
Ed Reed
McGahee

.....frick it

THEY HAD 17 1ST ROUND DRAFT PICKS ON ONE TEAM.

2000 They were 11-1

after the MNC in 2002 they went 12-1 (only losing to Ohio St.)

You're unbelievably off.

The Longhorns had alot invested in Garrett Gilbert. He was the only QB they took that year, and I don't think they took one the year they lost to Alabama. They thought they were set at that position.

When he then left after the following year, they really had nothing at QB. And they have been hurting at that position since then until maybe this year with Heard. With their bad offensive line, it's kind of hard to tell what Heard can or can't do.

Gilbert not panning out really hurt them.

Assuming at least SOME of the Saban to Texas talks happened, which by most accounts it did to some degree, I'm sure it's not lost on them that Bama kinda fricked them over a 2nd time too. A majority of Longhorn fans thought it would automatically happen since they're the "mighty" Texas and that's how they roll, and it made them infinitely butthurt that it didn't. Strong was doomed from the start because he's not Saban, and that's all they wanted.

Probabtion killed Miami...that and their administration got sick of the Thug U outlaw image that tarnished the reputation of a very good academic school and purposely de-emphasized football. Bama did however knock the wheels off them for a bit and their invincible aura wasn't the same after that.....

I didn't, actually. I was on a ski trip.

But, I got nothing bad to say about ND fans. Michigan fans were okay.

You do realize that that same broken Texas team beat you 27-25 with Case McCoy on your way out, right? CASE McCoy beat you!! I love the fact that we sent you on your way with a loss but, more than that, the fact that we beat you with the college football version of Pee-Wee Herman...priceless!!!

Well, they haven't been the same since that night have they? I think Mac got desperate after the loss and starting tinkering with the offense, and Strong is just a bad fit with the power hungry leadership at UT. They are in deep dookie and yes Bama started their slide.
