Made us bench Kenny Hill, which is actually a good thing.

I just don't see how that game lead to a string of bad recruits and bad team discipline.

Strong lost control of the team and let the drug culture in, AFTER Mack left

And 4&5 star kids are bad recruits?

Are you sure you're an LSU fan? Sounds like sip spin to me

My bad recruit comment has more to do with the kids' attitudes rather than their star ranking.

Strong basically had to clear house and get that infection out of the locker room.

Maybe, but then he brought in the highly touted Florida 5 and go look only one, I believe remains, just saying he brought in thugs and head cases too.

I can go along with this. Same thing can be said about Florida too. Until this year, anyway.

He kicked out 4 kids that failed 5 drug tests in a row AFTER Strong took over. And he gave the ones that were starters another chance

The serious answer is: The rot was there before the BCSCG. But the skills and leadership of a great college QB (McCoy)covered up a lot of the blemishes. Once he left, Mack had no leadership to make up for his lack of same.

That game led Mack Brown to question if the type of O he had been running could win championships. He changed (or, at least, wanted to change) his philosophy on O from West Coast, to Spread, to Smash Mouth (after Bama beat them). They didn't have the recruits to run smash mouth, which led to losing, which led to trouble recruiting, which led to more losing.

The Texas fall is on Mack Brown, but it started when he got dominated by Bama and tried to change everything as a result.

THIS. So yes OP, that game did break Texas

UCLA losing to Miami in 98 killed the Bruins

huh? UCLA has never been a powerhouse like Miami or Texas. The '98 team just came out of nowhere or momentum from the previous season but not long run of top 10 finishes. They've always been up or down. How about, UCLA had a good run in the 80's until Tennessee gave them a beat down in 89.

Some of those are reaching and would be like saying, 1980 State beating Bama ended their reign of National Championships for 14 years.

I posted this before, but here is the financial situation at tu.

2014
Mack Brown's Buyout 3.25 M (2.75 M + 500K 1 year job)
Charlie Strong Buyout 4.375 M
Charlie Strong Salary 5 M
Total: 12.625 M

2015
Charlie Strong Salary 5 M
Charlie Strong Buyout 15 M (rest of his contract)
Steve Patterson Buyout 5.6 M (possibly less & paid out over time, but no details yet)
Total: 20.6 M

So we are talking over 33 M hiring and firing head football coaches & ADs in a 2 year window and that isn't even looking at assistant coaches. Add in another huge HC salary with possible buyout and we're talking over 40 M. But you say, oh they're Texas, they can afford it. Maybe, maybe not. There season tickets are way way down. Thus far they're averaging just over 88K in a stadium that seats just over 100K. But lets be real there may be 75K at their home games. They're been selling ticket on groupon.

This is an actual example of dickriding.

Props to Aggy for for dickriding Bama, the team that did what they couldn't.

riiiiiight. Was Colt going to play on D and keep Richardson and Ingram from going over a hundred? Bama's O ran all over that D and wore them out.
