This whole oversigning thing is one of the most elaborate flames in the history of flames, wouldn't you agree?

If you mean the individuals who stomp their feet and gnash their teeth over it...yeah, complete flamers. Liberace level.

This has been a long time in the works. The SEC wanted this last year but compromised and then found out the compromise was pointless and was still taking a beating in the press so this is going to be done.

It made you so mad you couldn't even type it.

Here's a link to the Oversigning wiki page. What is basically trying to be accomplished, in all seriousness, is to outlaw the ridiculous practice of oversigning with the intention to pull schollies or slight the system. All people want to see happen is for schools to honor their offers.

Legitimately.

Agreed. Arky is taking a lashing after the 5 kids left/got cut/whatever recently. It really needs to be passed and have enough teeth for enforcement.

I see the potential ethical problems with over-signing, but I think the issue has been blown out of proportion.

Agreed.

Not this year.

But it's coming. There's a lot of fuel that'll be poured on real soon. And this season, there'll be plenty of coverage via several outlets!

Should get very interesting!!

I'm all for oversigning. I don't see harm in issuing a medical hardship so the player can finish his degree or transfer to a smaller school for playtime. You dont know what's goons happen down the road with some. Greyshirts at times are necessary for players that have been out of FB for more than a year. I wouldn't be surprised if we greyshirted Thomas this year for that very case. Not a shot at him or his talent, just allows him more time to prepare his body for the task at hand.

seems the only ones with a problem are having trouble filling an 85 roster.

Twitter says different!! Almost 900 followers! Yes! And a lot of ESPN and national media guys.

That's when the change happens.

When it starts to proliferate nationally!

Isn't it exciting!

Yeah UGA, OSU, UF, AU are having problems filling an 85 man roster.

I see why there is outrage over this because if a player doesn't cut it they are in some cases forced off the team. That's wrong, either learn to judge talent better or don't coach. Everyone will oversign to an extent but some schools have taken it to an extreme.

There is no way around this it is going to happen, there is far too much national pressure on the SEC to do something about this issue.

Even the Birmingham news agrees, FWIW.

I agree up to the point not mentioned.

My only issue with oversigning is when coaches say we have a spot for you then the player signs his LOI. Only to be told we signed too many and too many qualified. so you either need to pay your own way or wait till next year, when we might have a spot.

If the NCAA would just allow the kids out of their LOI in that case, I dont see any issue. Or again, similarly when forced to leave, if they could go to any school they like, I see no issue
