If that were the case, I imagine he'd have hit him above the shoulders and wouldn't have hit him between the numbers.

hm. oddly enough Dial did both of those things.

If this had been a punt return and Murray was a defender and got hit the same way, would there be the outrage? On any video clip in any stadium you will see these crackback blocks on unsuspecting defenders and every body cries out "boom"!! Just because it was the qb pursuing the play, as a defender, there is "outrage".

He did neither. He led with his shoulder, and Murray was clearly in the play.

I am going to be in the minority, but in all these gifs, etc, you can clearly see that he led with his forearm/shoulder to Murray's chest/shoulder region. With that being said, he did end up making helmet to helmet contact with Murray. Whether that is a penalty or not, given the circumstances of Murray becoming a possible defender after the interception is made, that is not my job to decide. IMO it should not be flagged, but I can see the argument that is being made for it to be flagged.

Every Saturday and Sunday I watch defenders get decleated on ST plays where either a tackler or blocker gets completely rocked like Murray did(guy leads with forearm/shoulder and helmet to helmet contact is made), and there's no flags. If Murray wants to chase after the guy who picks him off, he needs to keep his head on a swivel, and not be so naive. JMO.

the crown of his helmet magically hit Murray's, while Murray's casual jog would have definitely put the ballcarrier at risk.

I've already said I would have been fine unnecessary roughness. That's not the issue. Was he suspended?

Should have been a penalty for helmet to helmet, but not a suspension. Stop being pussies. It's football. He got laid the frick out on a cheap shot. He wasn't assraped afterwards.

maybe he led with his shoulder maybe he didn't...but that doesn't negate the fact that the crown of his helmet is buried in Murrays facemask

I'm glad Murray was OK. Dial did intend to knock the shite out of Murray. Did he intend to give Murray a concussion, I don't know? Had Dial hit a lineman in the same way, the lineman prolly wouldn't even have lost his footing. 300 lb vs 175 ib favors the 300 lb guy. Like a Mack truck hitting a Chev S-10.

Murray took a serious big boy shot, that he probably could/should have avoided or at least mitigated. Dial did bend down, maybe to try and make a helmet contact or maybe to try and avoid one. Dial is nearly a foot taller than Murray. This sometimes happens where players of differing heights collide. Also happens when a running back lowers his head.

The true cheap shot in this case would have been Dial hitting Murray at the knees...likely would have torn a ligament.

I do think the SEC over reacted earlier in the season with suspensions. The refs know which of these players are dirty and which aren't, but a penalty certainly wouldn't have been argued much by either side.

Do you know what lead means? It means the first thing that hits. You cant lead with both your shoulder and head. Its not possible. He lead with his shoulders, hit him and then the momentum and location of Murrays face led Dials helmet into the facemask.

Suspend him, #FreeElston.

Wait...are you saying his hit was dirty, and that Elston should have been suspended?

I say neither were dirty, and its goddamned football. The handwringers are intent on ruining the sport.

I'm not calling for the suspension of anyone. Let'em play. I just think it was dirty play. Should've been a flag, but it wasn't called.
