Meanwhile, all the cable carriers of the new eastern outposts of the B1G Network seem to have fallen in line.

Cheaper product is eaiser to sell.

Have had uverse for over two years. Great service and better channel selection than comcast anyway. The SECN is icing on the cake

That's probably the rub. The extra quarter the SEC is trying to charge is making it a harder sell.

I was speaking with a directTV rep last week, and he basically said that they will have a deal finalized by the A&M V. SC game. take that for whatever it's worth.

Yeah I told uverse I was going to comcast for the internet. They offered me the same cable package I had, but 46mbps instead of 24 for the same price. Win/win and they have great service.

I just hope like hell there's no (unspoken) linkage between the SEC Network and the Longhorn Network.
LHN needs to die.

DISH is already fast becoming to the TV world what Verizon is to the mobile phone market.
Directv has about 20 million subscribers and dish has about 15 million. Directv is the Verizon of the satellite tv market. Could change though if they don't jump on board with the SEC network.

I'm giving my provider (Charter) till August 8th - if they haven't added the SECNetwork then Dish will have my buisness. That should be plenty of time to get Dish up and running in time for the SECNetwork premiere of the Cocks/Aggies - Vandy/Temple games on Aug 28th.

Well that and its first cycle. Its never been negotiated in any market before. The SEC Network is new.
Even the article said the B1G Network had a hard time in 2007. Its boilerplate for them now.

But Dish Network absolutely sucks compared to Directv. I've had both and Directv blows Dish out of the water. I'll just steal a feed from some dodgy online stream.

I canceled charter.. told them on the phone to piss off. I'll sign with dish later in the summer.

Everybody needs to go to getsecnetwork.com, tell 'em your zip code is 39180 and your provider is Vicksburg Video. Don't ask questions, just do it.

I have U-Verse so I'm good to go! First carrier to pick up the SECN.
If they are in your area and you have cable they are worth switching to. I'll never go back to a cable company. I haven't had satellite so I can't compare their service to Dish or Direct.
U-verse Availability
If you look at that link you can see why they were so quick to Pick up the SEC Network. U-Verse is available in 22 states and 11 of those are SEC States.
The Non-SEC states are:
California
Connecticut
Illinois
Indiana
Kansas
Michigan
Nevada
North Carolina
Ohio
Oklahoma
Wisconsin
So we can thank fans of schools in those states for their contributions to the SECN.

Not. There's a long list of things I love about living in a small town. This is not on the list.
But thanks for the link, just the same. That's informative.

This almost feels like a NCAA TV ban.
Comcast and DTV won't have this bullshite
$EC Network by fall. Just another way to screw over the average fan.
DISH Network sucks b/c you've got to pay a shite ton up front to get it's service.
Get your radios out. I'll miss PPV.

Coming from a coot whose dual obsession with Clemson and Missouri borders on clinical, you're laughable.
If you had any semblance of reasoning skills beyond your patented simian ramblings you'd question why Dish Network and the others carriers have been almost universally adding both SECN and LHN across their territories.
Despite their denials and the illegality of doing so, is ESPN strong-arming carriers into taking both? If so, the cost of the SEC Network to providers is actually the cost of the SECN ($1.25-1.30) + LHN. If the LHN fee is even a nickle or dime, it represents a drag to adding the SEC Network to carriers, especially in comparison to the lower B1G Network fees.
But then I wouldn't expect a close-minded bagger such as yourself to process facts and ask questions.
