So still no source?

I gave you a source. You just have to do the actual leg work.

What does that have to do with the fact that Ohio State got the only national title trophy awarded for that season?

Edit: Ohio State didn't play in the Rose because the B10 wouldn't allow their members to play in bowls until the late 40s (with 1902 Michigan beind the exception).

They should be.

1. Alabama (duh)
2. Tennessee
3. Georgia
4. LSU
5. Auburn/Florida

From the OP:

Regardless of all that has transpired in the century prior to now, one would have to think that dwarfing all in-state competition and truly owning your home territory is an impressive accomplishment regardless of state.

Using this criteria, you can't have two schools from the same state, which is why I listed schools that are the only major player in their respective state.

It's pretty bad in the panhandle area

I'm guessing because FSU is nearby, I've never seen it or heard of such a thing down here in the peninsula.

Auburn is definitely a top 15 program all time, but the gap between 1 and top 15 is solid.

more like the gap from 4-15

My uncle used to live in Pensacola (he's in Boca Raton now). Lots of FSU stuff in the 90s until Saban got to Alabama.

I took a look at records against in-state opponents. Not a lot of surprises there.
