I know the OP said since 1900 but I also know that UF fans tend to think football started in 1990 so I took the liberty of looking the rankings for the last 35 years.

And yet a program that supposedly didn't start until 90 has won 3x as much hardware as mighty Georgia.

Regardless of all that has transpired in the century prior to now, one would have to think that dwarfing all in-state competition and truly owning your home territory is an impressive accomplishment regardless of state

What's even more impressive is sustained success in a competitive state, such as Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Texas, etc.

Anyone can dominate when they have a monopoly, bruh.

If we're not #1 in FL because of Miami having more titles...then Tech is #1 in GA.

You're splitting hairs.

The way to rank programs is by tiers, bruh.

Tier I: Alabama
Tier II: Georgia, LSU, Tennessee
Tier III: Auburn, Florida
Tier IV: Arkansas, Texas A&M
Tier V: Ole Miss
Tier VI: Missouri
Tier VII: Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt
Tier VIII: Mississippi State

We claim 2. 2x3=6. UF does not have 6.

Who do you cheer for again?

I dont think anybody outside of Ole Miss fans think they "own" their state.

That fan base has an inflated sense of self worth.

And let's be honest..."owning" the state of MS isn't exactly something to brag about.

I would include Missouri and Arky but they are not really SEC.
So does that mean LSU has been struggling to beat an OOC opponent the past two decades?

I think we most definitely own our state considering that we're the only program in the Magnolia State that has ever made national waves and have a commanding lead over our in-state rivals.

UF has 3 and y'all have 2. I don't see why this is a point of contention. UGA owns their state more than Florida does, obviously.

Y'all made national waves for the wrong reasons though.
