1.Fiction: Florida decided to cancel the LSU game
Fact: Florida and LSU were involved in the decision-making process, but SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and his office ultimately made the call. Both athletic directors, Florida’s Jeremy Foley and LSU’s Joe Alleva, said this Thursday.

The commissioner had no choice, because Florida was unwilling to commit to either the game being played Sunday/Monday at Gainesville or a neutral site. And by the time they made the call late Thursday, they said it was too late. Even though I was late Thursday that USCe-UGA moved their game to Sunday in Columbus.

quote:

2. Fiction: Florida could have played LSU on Saturday
Fact: Hindsight is 20/20. Florida and the SEC got ripped Wednesday and early Thursday for even considering the possibility of playing the game.

I don't remember this, but maybe it was the unwillingness to move it to another location knowing full well that a Hurricane was possibly coming to rip you a new @sshole? They had plenty of time to plan a contingency, but were too stupid to do so.

quote:

. Fiction: Florida could have played LSU on Sunday Fact: Again, that’s easy to say after the hurricane had not been as devastating in Gainesville as initially feared. But Matthew still decimated nearby cities such as St. Augustine. Instead of working the Florida-LSU game, the Gainesville Fire Department was deployed to assist surrounding areas affected by the storm. Their absence in Gainesville and that of other first responders — as well as law enforcement — prevented a home game from this weekend. And the school, which canceled classes Friday, could not project how much help or shelter the city of Gainesville would need to provide for evacuees. UF Health Shands Hospital, for example, took in hundreds of evacuee patients. “Just because the weather’s good (on game day) does not mean that everything is good elsewhere,” Logan said. “People need hotels. Food and water. There may be people still without power. There may be people who need some basic necessities because they’ve been relocated from wherever they are. … Some of the people working the games may be having to take care of those people. “You’ve gotta look at it far enough out: Can hotels accommodate fans coming in, as well as residents being relocated? You have people that are dislocated by a storm that may be moving into hotels, may be consuming things that teams would use, and people’s safety would take priority over these teams coming in and using rooms to play a game.”

Again, if they were so worried about it that far in advance, why wait so long to come up with a decision, whenever our AD gave your AD multiple options. And USCe-UGA was able to get played, and they also had issues with evacuees, lackof resources, and a short amount of time. They made the right call. They scheduled the game for Sunday un the hopes it could be played, but wouldn't have if they weren't able to. Florida should have at least had that option on the table, but it was not. By Thursday they had their mind made up that this game was NOT going to be played at all this weekend.

quote:

4. Fiction: Florida could have played at LSU Fact: LSU offered to host the Gators, but they could not make the trip with such short notice and a hurricane potentially affecting their travel

Once again, that's on Florida. They dragged their feet on a decision even though by Tuesday they knew at the very least this storm would skirt the coast as a best case scenario. They were never going to move this game to LSU or even a neutral site. And their actions confirmed that.

quote:

5. Fiction: Florida should have played since Miami and South Carolina did Fact: As Foley said, Gainesville’s resources are already overstressed and the ability to handle a hurricane differs from city to city. Sankey explained this Saturday on CBS. “We didn’t know how players’ families would be impacted …

Right, because Miami or FSU didn't have ANY players who had families affected by this storm. Only Florida. Right.

And about the resources for the game, they should have taken that into account Wednesday whenever they said that the game would be in Gainesville yet the weather service had the storm coming very close to the coast.

UF fans will grasp at anything written they can get their hands on, and call it "fact". The truth is, the rest of the nation knows exactly what happened. Foley and UF ducked and SEC game, because losing it (which was predicted) would have hurt their chances of winning the east over UT.

Fact.

The only people who believe that are the justifiably angry but borderline delusional LSU fans and perhaps some fans of Florida's rivals who capitalize on any opportunity to mock us for sport.

The players weren't, but the AD and the Coach certainly were.

The reason this game was not played is because UF insisted on 10/5 that it would only play the game in Gainesville. To anyone who isnt being a complete UF homer, it was obvious that UF was trying to force the game to be delayed. Even if Gainesville was not in the projected hurricane path, there was no way that the State of Florida would allow its first responders to work a game of that size instead of helping with hurricane relief. Thus, UF's insistence that the game be played in Gainesville = game delayed.

Just like the alleged facts in this article, that's just not a fact. Sorry.

But hey guys, believe what you need to believe to sleep at night. I can't really blame you. And that's a fact.

This isn't shocking. The way UF schedules, and with the WLoCP in Jacksonville, they leave the state a total of three times to play every year.

None of this fricking matters anymore. Foley erred on the side of caution and maybe the game could have been played but that is beside the point now.

Will LSU sack up and play this game?

No trolling, how would delaying the game have benefitted UF? Got us out of playing 3-2, Leonard Fournette-less LSU? Would it have given us time to get our injured guys healthy? Del Rio was going to play this weekend the linemen we have out will still be out weeks from now. We've played better teams under worse conditions in the McElwain era alone. If the game is rescheduled, who's to say we don't have more and/or worse injuries to our roster at the date it's rescheduled to?

Is there some other reason LSU fans feel justified in the belief that UF dodged the game? Because the injury theory doesn't make sense.

Well Edgar Allen Poe, you ain't, but you are trying

quote:

The SEC has a new lost-revenue insurance policy that went into effect this year. LSU reportedly makes $3 million per home

Wait, you are asking LSU to give up a home game and play 3 straight road games in a 12 day period. All you give Baton Rouge and LSU is a measley 3 million? The sales tax revenue for that weekend is easily 3X that for the area.

My offer stands, Florida pays out USA, Florida pays out Presbyterian. Florida gives up 2018 game and plays in Baton Rouge and receives OOC type money.

You are asking LSU and Baton Rouge to sacrifice, how about the reptiles feel a little pain as well for not agreeing to contingency plans prior to Thursday. You want something from , we want something from you.
