Exactly. Just move the teams back to start the series. Everything else is good.

I think that the best way to run OT is to start the possessions at midfield. I like the concept of a possession starting at the same place for both teams, which is why I like the general concept of college OT better than the NFL (though ending sudden death was a nice change for the NFL).

Starting at the 25 is just kind of silly. You shouldn't be almost guaranteed points (assuming you have a decent kicker). You should have to at least get 1-2 first downs.

I think you should start at the 50, but I think the 40 would work too.

College Football OT is a joke. Knowing there is OT ahead takes out a lot of strategy in the last few minutes. Look at some of these 4+ OT's. That's garbage not football.

You sound like one of those "Hockey Purists" who think that shootouts are a disgrace to the game.

Just revamp how OT works in CFB. Ties are for Europeans.

Utter nonsense. This isn't soccer we're talking about - the entire point of playing the game is to WIN.

College Football overtime is one of the bes tthings out there, why mess with it? NFL OT is a joke.

The only thing I'd change about college OT is start at 35 yard line instead of 25. Dont give a team what most would consider an automatic 3 points, let them work for it a little.

so much of this. start them out at the 40 and let em go.

CFB OT is excellent in every other way except for starting at the 25.

Don't allow teams to kick field goals or extra points.

TD or bust and you have to go for 2

I guess the sportswriters figured they can only milk offseason realignment talk for so long...

Err... actually some really great and wildly entertaining games have gone to multiple OTs. I humbly submit to you and the rest of the rant that the string of OT games Arkansas had last year were about as entertaining as you will find from last season.

If your criteria for great football is 6-3 games where most teams rarely cross the 50 yard line... then yes OT would not be your cup of tea.

And a tie would be better than letting that play out how?

And those 7 OTs are actually pretty exciting/fun.

I agree ties suck. I think college OT is pretty good right now. Pushing the teams out of automatic FG range would make it more interesting. There have been some great plays in OT that never would have happened. The only drawback to OT is laying on the ball late to get to OT instead of working to win from bad field position.

Yea, they're fun as hell.

I don't know if you forgot, but football is a game. Games are supposed to be fun.

Changing the way OT is played is an acceptable discussion. Outlawing ties is a waste of time. We have divisions. We have conference championships. If u outlaw ties, and both teams are tied at 7-0-1, who in the flying frick goes to a conference championship game? The tiebreaker situation is much better in the current setup. Two teams at 7-1 are tied. The head to head decides the tiebreaker. What sorry-arse, computer-driven, poll-driven, ridiculous setup decides a 7-0-1 tiebreaker? If u want to outlaw ties then u are stupid. Yes, we all have the right to an opinion. However, if you believe ties should be outlawed in CFB, then u are stupid. Ties are NECESSARY in today's CFB.
