Don't know why NFL teams would want him.

Most people know better than to return to a place that you failed. It would be like marrying your ex-wife. It might be exciting for a little while, but you know there is a good chance you will get the same results.

#1 - Bleacher Report =

#2 - Saban says the NFL penalizes success (What success?)

#3 - Saban can't handle a draft or free agency. He wants to be able to lure as many good people as possible without worrying about payment (that he has to manage) or waiting in line in the draft.

#4 - Saban's coaching style does not mesh well with paid players.

Now maybe 6 teams inquired on his interest in leaving, but it's pretty clear that Saban won't go back to the NFL. It goes against everything that really makes him successful which is outstanding recruiting and the ability to really drill his system into the players.

Also, as the GOAT coach in college, he can make up any narrative he wants when things go badly. Kinda like how he tried to do with blaming the medical staff for them not signing Drew Brees.

Why does Gus return year after year? He's failed quite a bit.

Which is why 6 NFL teams went after him. Makes sense

He's running out of time to make an NFL decision. He's 65, same as Carroll and Belicheck.

Look at the 6 NFL teams. Most prefer winning the Press Conference to winning on the field. Saban hire would make a good Sports Center morning, but ask Miami what the Fall would be like.

Because it is one of the shots that they can cling on to when they have little else to use. Similar to "we have arguably better academics" for AU and "We produce arguably better NFL players" for LSU

Yeah thats it. Cause luring Saban would probably include making him the highest paid coach in the NFL so paying that much to win the press conference makes sense

Saban will never return to the NFL, nor should he. He couldn't get out of Miami quick enough

I like Saban from a personal standpoint. I respect him more every year because he has to put up with the Houndstooth Redneck Crowd on a daily basis. But to think he would be successful in the NFL is just rewriting history.
