I like Corse, but to be honest, he hasn't really contributed anything in 10 years aside from the headgear bit at the end.

I wouldn't be surprised to just see them retire that bit when Corso goes.

Except for his jazz hands, Saban was really good last night. Adds a shite ton of credibility to that staff.

And he could name is price.

I think the only announcers making millions base salary are the few top NFL announcers. Costas, Nantz, etc. No way in hell the majority of ESPN announcers are making millions

wild guess? About 200k

No man, it's much more than that......

I'd say Corso makes $350,000 to $500,000 a year

I would assume Herbstreit is the highest paid of the Gameday crew, by far

I've been quite positive for some time that he planned to retire within 5 years and go to ESPN. Wouldn't surprise me if they already have an agreement in principle

I hate it when the great ones go to commentating.

Magic Johnson comes to mind.

Saban should pull an MJ and just go sit on his arse and make money elsewhere.

By "pull an MJ" do you mean buy a pro sports franchise and turn it into a dumpster fire?

It will be interesting to see if Mack Brown gets some face time on ESPN next season. He loves the media and the media loves him.

So what you're saying is my wild guess of 200k didn't deserve to be laughed at?

As far as a Corso replacement goes, don't be surprised if it is Mack Brown. He's available, does TV well, and would probably be fairly entertaining now that he's no longer having to spew the company line.

Saban's talents, in my opinion, would probably be better for color commentator, which I think he could do quite well indeed. It's a more serious, analytical role, to which he seems better suited. The studio guys do some analysis, but their job involves interviewing, story telling, and some other entertainment aspects that Saban doesn't excel in.

Beat you to it.. You can be assured he's still be spewing some company line.. whether it be UT's or ESPN's.

The whole Game day thing has always been about the fun and excitement and craziness of college football. It's not super serious, but I think it's gotten too zany lately.

Just bring in some goofy guy like Corso was, and have Saban play off him as the serious straight man. I think it would be fantastic.

Palmer is usually pretty damn good. Tebow was staring at the TelePrompTer the whole damn time and pollack is terrible.
