I think negative people tend to look at things through the lens of "what would it be like if he'd never left" vs "what did he do when he was here and how did that help us for the future".

You can't feel slighted because someone left your program in good shape, IMO.

I could see this happening. I could also see Nick returning to Tuscaloosa 4 or 5 years later ala Bill Snyder after getting tired of the NFL if Kirby Smart doesn't work out. He'd be 66 years old at that time and would coach another 4 years until age 70, win another national title, and then retire.

I don't see it happening, but if it did I hope Bama fans don't act like cock suckers about it. You know, like LSU fans did.

It's not about that at all. Nobody was pissed at him for leaving. They were pissed at him for coming back and trying to hurt LSU when it was LSU that was the place that gave him the opportunity to make the kind of money he makes and become the kind of name he became.

the little midget can't boss those grown men around like he does with college kids, you know at his last nfl job, players threated to kick his arse, that's why he left, if truth be told just ask some former players

Have Saban leave Alabama on a Christmas night press conference and see the meltdown.

Not a chance this happens. He has the dream job in Bama. Not going to give that up for the Cleveland Browns.

Rumors since Sabear arrived at Bama:

Cowboys, Notre Dame, Browns, Texas

"Saban will be gone in 3 years"... and yet here he is on his 6th year- longest stint anywhere in his career - going for his 3rd National title in 4 years.

If he were to leave Bama I'd imagine it would be because winning wasn't fun anymore.

I wouldn't totally rule out him leaving for Cleveland. On the other hand, there is a factor and a challenge that I think may keep his interest high and keep him from getting bored. That being the 4 team playoff format. He has to love his chance of getting into that playoff quite often and probably would love the idea of winning a national title under that format.

He'd be a damn fool to go.

So you think Saban can live with the knowledge that people say, "He's a great college coach, but he couldn't hang in the big time."?

They would probably poison their own trees and teabag each other. It would be entertaining.

He's also putting himself in the conversation as GOAT in CFB. I wouldn't leave that for the NFL, but I'm not him.

This makes no sense. He didn't come back to try to hurt LSU. You just happened to be in the path of destruction so quit making it about you.

And please don't act like you did Saban this huge favor by 'giving him the opportunity.' A coach like that would have been great with or without you.

I fully believe that there's something in him that would like another shot in the NFL. If anything actually made him consider jumping, it would be the realization that if it's really something he wants to do, it's now or never. At 61, this would absolutely be his last chance to give it a go.

But, I'd probably put money on Auburn winning another NC next year before I put money on this.

He was Nick Saban when he came to LSU, he was NICK SABAN when he left. He got a huge contract from us, the Dolphins and his first at Bama almost solely based on what he did at LSU.

Being the coach at alabama comes with it trying to hurt LSU, so yes he did.
